Lifetime will not move ahead with a second season of its new cop drama.
September 8, 2011
The Protector has been cancelled after one season on the air. Lifetime will not be ordering any additional episodes of the freshman drama, which was a relative weak performer in the ratings.
The series, which follows a single mom balancing her career as a homicide detective with raising her twin sons, premiered in June and was watched by 1.9 million viewers. Ratings slipped in further airings, likely leading to the network's decision to not proceed with another season.

yep cancelling another good one. I'm not sure who is making the decisions on these cancellations, but they are making major wrong decisions. REAL SUCKY!!!! sounds like all these STUPID reality shows are staying and shows with any decent scripts, actors (real actors) are being cancelled. COME ON PEOPLE get it together. we don't want to watch these stupid reality shows with BOO BOO, DANCE MOMS, ETC - it's a discrace that these shows are even on tv!!!

I am very disappointed and quite shocked that The Protector was cancelled. Ally Walker and the cast were fantastic and the show was well acted and interesting. It's too bad it was up against some TV shows that are highly overated. Maybe a better time slot would have helped but it appears that you gave up too soon. I really did look forward to watching this show every week and I will miss it. Maybe you could reconsider?

I actually liked the show. It was a sort of light-hearted crime drama as opposed the rough stuff airing today. I think it was a bad move to go from Sunday night to Monday against Monday Night Football. I'm pretty sad to see it go.
The powers that be should take another look at it and try it again, maybe in another time slot and possible another network.

I love Ally Walker, have ever since "Profiler"and "While You Were Sleeping"... She was great in "Protector"!! I agree with most of the other comments: This wasn't intended to be just another Cop Drama, It was the story BEHIND the Family Side of the Badge, which is what MADE the show. Very disappointed.

I hope some one else pick this show up because lifetime dropped the ball. The show with Patty Duke was the bested I have seen this season. No show that makes me want to know the IQ of the writers. Plez think before you throw out a good show next time. Your shows Like Drop dead diva,Royal pains, Closer. This is a think persons Shows new writing on some of your show would help a lot like Rossi& Isles and so may more. Good charactor but no brains in the show writting plez this is what make your show so good not dumming down for people with brains and those real people can be fools to shows make me turn to you more than CBS<NBC<ABC< or fox.,

I am about to just quit watching tv altogether. Everytime I get interested in a show it gets cancelled. Reality shows bite so that leaves little else to tune in to. Very frustrating.

OH PLEASE.....If you want a police drama that is authentic tune into a real life drama. The reason we liked this show was mainly because of the family behind the scenes. The actors were fun to watch and it relaxed me. Thats all we need is another real life shoot em up drama.
