The freshman J.J. Abrams thriller will not return.
May 9, 2012
Fox has cancelled new drama Alcatraz, which premiered earlier this year in January as a mid-season replacement. The series got off to a solid start in the ratings, but viewership dropped off significantly over the course of its 13 episodes. The show's last four episodes rated a series low 1.6 in the key adults 18-49 demographic, which was clearly not enough for Fox to bring back the series.
Also cancelled by Fox today was freshman drama The Finder.

Is there any wonder why ratings are low? Why take interest in a show when it's just going to be nixed after the first season. Time to start finding better things to do with your time, network TV will be non-existent in 5 years. They're out of touch with the viewers.

Unbelievable, that Fox canceled this show. It was one of my favorites. I hope they at least publish how it ends or I will never watch another Fox TV series again.

I agree. Why start watching a show just for it to be cancelled. I only have have 5 or 6 shows that I regularly watch and Alcatraz was on my list. They need to bring it back!

Now we will never know how "they" got here, what was up with the "warden", why the doctor/medical examiner could smoke in the examining room, and last, but not least, why did "they" all come back?
These and other extremely exciting questions will never be answered, and we can place all the blame on FOX....that and many other political questions, that is.

I can't believe this show is going to be cancelled! its was great and kept you on your toes! I must agree every time i get into a show i gets cancelled.!!! just because the show doesn't rate as high as your other shows mean that you have to cancel it how about you give it another season see how that goes!!!

I am so saddened by Fox's decision to cancel this show. Just like everyone else, I lead a hectic life and relied on my DVR to watch this show. Instead of cancelling it altogether they should of moved it to a different night first. But that would have made sense. I personally watch several shows on Monday night and the DVR comes in handy. This was the only show I watched on Fox so I guess I won't be watching FOX anymore.

I am sick and tired of all my shows getting cancelled when I start to get into them! (i.e Terra Nova, Flash Forward, The Event, V ect....) I quit watching a new show now until it is like in its 4-5 season. Tired of all the cliff hangers and never finding out what happens..

Same comment as Terra Nova. "Fox is where good sci-fi goes to die".
RIP
Terra Nova, Dark Angel, Firefly, Alien nation, Lone Gunman, Sarah Conner, Tru Calling, Dollhouse, etc, etc, etc...
