I still think that the "intelligence" of the old show ("The Game", Seasons 1-3) is gone. But after some time away from the DVD's I have watched the BET version (i.e. Seasons 4-6), and the show doesn't suck as badly as I once thought.
The writing and character development are still unrealistic and disjointed, and the story lines have no "arcs" to speak of, but BET has had a few good ideas.
First, I like the idea of a young rookie and his future girlfriend working their way into a relationship instead of already being in one the day they move into town. This is the approach the CW should have taken with Derwin and Melanie. Their storyline would have been much more interesting with much more mileage if they had taken three seasons just to get into a committed boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.
Watching their arc grow upwardly would have made it impossible to grow tired of them in Seasons 4 & 5. It appears BET tried to fix the one mistake the CW made but didn't do it correctly. Lauren Lobdon can't even cry on cue, which was evidenced after Blue confronted her for keeping her virginity a secret. In a future scene, she actually has to use the "turn the back to the camera and laugh" trick to produce the effect of crying. That's an old one, folks. I know because I am an actor.
BET's version of the show is really a weekly "experiment" in which some things work well while other things don't.
I thought Brandy ("Chardonnay") and Coby Bell ("Jason") would be a horrible pairing; now I think they are the glue holding the show together. Brandy's acting chops are far superior to what I thought they were.
BET cannot restore the old show, but better writing (Tasha plays Rick and Poochie...REALLY?), casting (Megan Good would have been a better choice for "Kiera", but BET screwed that up by casting her as "Parker", Malik's jump-off in Season-4), and technical work (the lighting and makeup suck!) will go a long ways towards giving it some legitimacy.

I love The Game also, is it really true that the new season won't start till next year? I've been watching for it every Tuesday hoping each one would be the start of a Funny Tuesday. Oh Well, as long as it eventually gets here!

I love the GAME, I am a absolute fan! I must admit when I heard that D&M were not going to be on the last season I was honestly upset, and really not interested in the show. However, I am glad I did not give up on the show bc I LOOOOVVVEEE it, the new cast (HILARIOUS) Blue and Kierra keep it hot and exciting. Chardonney is to funny!!!!!! Please don't take my show off the air. LOOKING FOWARD TO WHATS NEXT, (people love Young and the Restless and soaps) WELL THE GAME IS MY SOAP OPERA!!!!!!!!!

I like the new cast. I like d&m too but thought they were getting boring. I'm looking forward to the new season. And I think blueprint is hottt.

I liked the new storyline of The Game ok although I missed quite a few episodes and was ok to miss them. However, when D&M were on the game AND Kelly Pitts I NEVER missed an episode. I would absolutely love to see all the gang back. Brandy's character can stay but write her in a new man and put Jason back with Kelly.
If you (BET) can't get the originals back (Tia & Brittany) their twins will do.

This season did have some interesting corners but I just hate things being left undone.....D&M should have continued on the show without interruptions and they brought in new cast members to make the show more interesting...Blueprint definitely don't measure up to Derwin and the new girl...I don't even know what her name is...A VIRGIN....come on already (in my Steven A voice)...She don't measure up to Melanie....I particularly wouldn't mind seeing girl Melanie and Derwin coming back to the show this event will make up for this terrible season...I look forward to looking at the reruns instead of Season 6...Its heartbreaking in tears....Season ending could have been better too....

I was concerned at first after losing D&M but with the new cast members I must say I'm tuned in every week I would be so lost with out the game!!! Keep this show going!!

It wasn't so much Melanie, she was starting to suck on the show, it was that Derwin actually had character and the episodes flowed a bit more with the acting. I like Chardonnay better than Kelly. I would have to say, the show needs more outside characters every once in a while. Characters more than just the same whack running back. Coaches, agents, developing the character of Malik's girl with that he stupidly left for the black chick. Just open it up, and make it seem like there are more people in their lives!!! Please BET!!!
