Paramount+ has announced that a revival of The Game has been ordered for the streaming service. The dramedy concluded its original run in 2015 after an impressive nine seasons.
The series began on The CW in 2006 as a spin-off of the TV series Girlfriends in the format of a half-hour comedy. It was eventually canceled after three seasons but was subsequently picked up by BET as an hour-long dramedy, and continued to air for another six seasons.
The format of The Game's revival has not been confirmed, but an official tweet refers to it as a sitcom that offers "a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football". The time frame for a return is not yet known.
