The troubled musical series will not return.
May 10, 2013
NBC has cancelled Smash after two seasons. The musical drama has had its share of troubles since premiering as a mid-season replacement in February 2012. Shortly after being picked up for a second season, showrunner Theresa Rebeck announced that she would be stepping down at Season 1's end. After ratings for Season 2 plummeted, the network moved Smash to Saturday nights to burn off the remainder of its episodes.
The series finale of Smash will air on May 26, 2013.

It is with great sadness that I see that NBC has cancelled Smash. Smash is one of the most refreshing, talented, entertaining shows on TV. I do not know who's decision or what made NBC make the decision to cancel Smash but it is WRONG! TV has many shows other than Smash that should be cancelled and here NBC cancels one of their BEST shows. There is too much violence, and Reality shows on TV and not enough entertaining shows. NBC YOU HAVE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE BY CANCELLING SMASH!!!!

Please someone pick up this show. It is so different from what is out there. Its pure talent and show creativeness. I agree with all the above comments. Please rethink your decision to call it quits. So very disappointed, yes it make me smile too!

I have enjoyed this show and the cast from the beginning and can't believe they aren't renewing it. It's so different from any of the other shows and a vast improvement over reality tv and the shows they are advertising to replace what they've cancelled. Don't watch the new shows and demand they bring our favorites back! They should have never moved it to Saturday and these days, what are ratings anyway? Everyone records their shows and watches them when it's convenient. NBC execs have no idea what people really like -- they just keep pushing stupid reality TV shows. I won't be watching any of the new shows -- why bother -- they'll just cancel them too.

SMASH is a great show! It's not the show it's the marketing department. Figure out how to get more people to watch it...in other words "Do your job!", but don't take off a great show!

This show had me at "let me be your star!" Live it, look forward to it, and at the end of each episode am disappointed that there's not more. Never liked thd Jimmy ploy kind much, but even so, the show had life, and the performers! Incredibly talented! What can thd rationale possibly be for canceling this brilliant and moving show?

My granddaughter and I were just talking about all the good shows we like that are being cancelled. Is it us? NO! I mainly watch shows on CBS but the three good shows on NBC are The Voice, Chicago Fire and Smash. How long before you cancelled those shows. You have the lowest viewership on TV . Now I know why. You don't care what the public likes. Put this show on a descent day and time and it would succeed. You should fire the guy who makes these decisions. All you have are talk shows, or reality shows, you can't seem to keep anything for very long.
Sorry for your decision.
