The troubled musical series will not return.
May 10, 2013
NBC has cancelled Smash after two seasons. The musical drama has had its share of troubles since premiering as a mid-season replacement in February 2012. Shortly after being picked up for a second season, showrunner Theresa Rebeck announced that she would be stepping down at Season 1's end. After ratings for Season 2 plummeted, the network moved Smash to Saturday nights to burn off the remainder of its episodes.
The series finale of Smash will air on May 26, 2013.

This is such a fantastic show. Please take into consideration that you might want to target a different age group once and a while. As I no longer fall into the 18-49 age range I still enjoy quality programming and maybe you could switch up the ads that sell during that time to a more mature type of audience. We too are still consumers with considerable buying power. I will miss this show very much. Maybe a reprieve? Thank you.

This was a great show! NBC didn't give it a chance by moving it to Saturday nights. I think all networks need to include the DVR ratings in their numbers when they are deciding what to do with a show. A TV show about musicals in going to be watched by people who are involved in or attend theatre. Most of those people are in theatres on Saturday nights not watching TV. Hopefully this show will be picked up by a network that takes time to figure out the demographics that will watch the show and then schedule it in a time slot that works.

If NBC does not believe this show has a following, someone from the network should visit this Facebook fan page: www.facebook.com/dontcancelsmash
This show deserves another chance, if not on NBC, then on another network. SMASH should be saved as a mid-season replacement. NBC must know one of their new shows will not make it, and then there will be room for SMASH to return.

One of the best shows on TV! NBC needs to give us something better to watch, rather than reality TV and police procedurals!

This show was so different than any other show. SMASH brought broadway to life. The actors were amazing. Why do all the good show get cancelled and all we are left to do is look at donald trump with his bad hair or watch reality tv?

Loved this show! Agree with other comments, not much left to the NBC lineup. Hope another network picks up the show.

I hate to see this show go! It was one of the only TV shows that kept my attention, made me laugh, and made me cry. It had substance...something most other shows on television can't say today. I am tired of cop shows and reality television. Seems like the people at NBC have also lost their creative instinct...like most of America. SAD!!!

I am very disappointed in NBC for canceling this show! It was one of the only shows that in my opinion had any kind of substance to it. It had a great cast and was a very entertaining show to watch, I couldn't wait to check it out every week, and it seems the only thing you propke want on tv is sex filled, no common sense shows. I seriously think that you execs at NBC are making a huge mistake, very disappointed in this decision.

Another questionable decision by NBC, SMASH has culture, intelligence, entertainment and amazing talent. Isn't that what we should have? Please reconsider you decision, NBC.

I love this show. I thought it was great. I love Broadway and I don't live in NY so this was so nice to be able to get that kind of sound every week rather than having to wait for my local broadway tour season to start here in town. I am so so sad to see it go.
