The drama will not return for Season 4.
September 10, 2013
Fans of AMC's The Killing will be saddened to hear that the series has been cancelled once again. The cable network has decided not to bring the crime drama back for a fourth season.
Originally cancelled after Season 2, The Killing was revived after a strong backlash from fans when it was made known that a third season was not planned. Season 3 returned to decent ratings but ultimately ended flat compared with Season 2's numbers, which led to the show's cancellation in the first place.

I am really disappointed by the cancellation of The Killing. While I understand the 'slow' comments, I always thought the pace, and the horrible weather added to the shows intensity. It looks like AMC is perfectly happy with cheap to produce TRASH like Bridezillas! I weep for our future. Rent the movie Idiocracy, I fear that the TV 'shows' in that movie aren't that far off.

Those that don't think this series is worthy of another season need to focus their lives on Big Brother and leave the grown ups in the world to enjoy a truly quality program. Go back to your Jackass if you will, those of use with a functioning brain stem, a life beyond substance abuse AND THE DEMOGRAPHICS AND INCOME TO BUY WHAT ADVERTISERS ARE SELLING like the intelligence of this quality show. If it's beyond your comprehension that's fine, go watch another ghost reality show on Syfy but if you have ANY appreciation for a show that makes and effort (and succeeds) at providing intelligent drama you need to support this show just out of principle. I would pay for this show... Literally, if it was pay per view for the season I would sign up immediately. For those tracking demographics, My wife and I are in our 40's, have real jobs, have disposable income and support the show completely. Everyone we turn on to it becomes a supporter and this is the kind of show we need to support, not another "Ghost Mine" or even worse, the remakes of old show's that keep coming back instead of quality original programming. Keep the killing on please!

Basically cancelled because they don't have money in budget. Hopefully they'll let Netflix take over!

As a fan of the first two seasons of this show, I'm glad it's being cancelled this time. Season 3 was just terrible in my opinion, especially the ending. It honestly would have been better off ending after season 2 like originally planned. They clearly didn't have much creativity in the tank for a third season if that was the best they could come up with.
I'd rather see a show I like end after just a couple seasons rather than it become creatively bankrupt because the writers ran out of steam well before the ratings dropped off. Case in point, seasons 5-8 of Dexter.

About time - stay cancelled this time.
Show is way too slow and draged out. However season 3
was by far the best - better acting, but still very
slow. I have seen a few of the original Danish seasons,
even slower.

I hate the Nielsen Rating's system. It's antiquated. I am hoping that a powerful wave of Smart TVs will kill the system's allure completely.
Imagine if we elected our President that way, using only a comparatively tiny amount people who supposedly represented us! Oh. Wait. We do.
Abolish the Nielsen Rating system! Abolish the electoral college!

Unfortunately the stations make the decisions based on the Nielsen Ratings which only a finite amount of households are selected to participate in- unfortunately for us the households contain folks over 100 years old who still miss Matlock and Murder She Wrote
