I love this show. Not very often I can find a good dark humor show. This last season had ups and downs, but it's still a great show. I am sorry it's ending, but I am hoping they do a good job with it.

Honestly you knew this season was weak when this past seasons plot line centered around a half-baked hatchet job of Marcus Garvey and Casper Holstein perpetrated in the character of Valentin Narcisse. (http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2013/09/29/is-boardwalk-empire-trampling-the-legacy-of-marcus-garvey/) and Nucky was on the sidelines in yet ANOTHER failing romance while his empire is in peril yet again. No wonder they killed off Richard, because no one noticed when the butler jumped off the balcony and anyone could have predicted the death of Chalky's daughter since this show always ends with elaborate deaths to remind viewers to tune in next season (Massacre in the woods, Sawickis drowning, Jimmy Darmody, Angela Darmody,, The Commodore. Billie Kent, Owen Slater, Gyp Rosetti, Roger McAlister) This show may have gotten its inspiration from history but what's up on the screen is no way tru or remotely accurate.

I second the opinion that there should be a spinoff focused on the rise of Al Capone. And of course the part should be played by the same guy.

Richards death at the end of last season was an unwanted surprise and after Jimmy died the show started it's slide. That being said, I wish this show would spin off. Given the name it kind of has to focus on Atlantic City. Given the role of Al Capon is perfectly cast, a show continuing but with a concentration on Capone would most likely blow the lid off of ratings. It would be nice to witness the rise of Al Capone and not just the fall. We've seen glimpses of his ascension. But to actually have a show that details how powerful he actually became and not just how he gets taken down would be a real treat. That's just my opinion but it's pretty obvious people love mafia - centric movies/shows. No single character is more well known than Al Capone.

I agree with the comments about the show not being as good without Jimmy and with Richard gone now it just compounds it. I'll miss it but not as much as some other shows that were canceled before I felt they should have been.

Season 4 was atrocious and unbearable, once Jimmy was killed off, the show lacked direction. Destroying White's life was a terrible thing. Then killing off Richard really nailed the show in the coffin. The Pinkerton guy romancing the redhead, just not a believable scenario in 1924. But the worst was the guy with the Haitian accent Nassime or whatever, not a credible character for 1924 organized crime life, I could not stand to look at him....

NO, I love this show. I know its based on true facts of history but its an hour of pure escape for me, I love the era, love the costumes, love the acting. Its just a great all around show.
