The new drama will return for Season 2.
May 8, 2015
NBC has renewed freshman series The Mysteries of Laura for a second season. The Debra Messing drama premiered last year as part of the fall schedule, garnering decent ratings for the network and earning a pickup for a full 22-episode season.
For Season 2, the show will reportedly see a retooling to focus more on crime solving than the family drama aspects. NBC is also cutting down the episode count to 13.

In the past few years NBC has cancelled such well written and well acted shows as Prime Suspect, Awake and Life. Now the powers that be at NBC decide it time to renew a badly written and poorly acted show as Mysteries of Laura. This show should have never seen the light of day. NBC deserves it atrocious ratings.

I really like the Show. However I was expecting it to be cancelled. NBC decided to cancel other Great Shows and Keep this One. I thought it was going to be the other way around.

I'm amused by those who "like an actor" instead of the character. The whole point of acting is to become the character. So good actors are not visible as themselves.

i've watched all other shows of nbc that just got cancelled. and they will keep the only show i wasn't interested in... maybe i should delete this channel from my mind...

Isn't the "family drama" what sets it apart from being just another NYPD procedural? And they are going to get rid of that?

This is an OK show, they seem to have included enough situations that many people can identify with. It is good to see a single mother is a strong respectable profession and I enjoy the interaction with all the other police department characters. Now if they can just get over the bad concept of a 13 episode season and tweak the family aspect, they might get the viewership for more than 2 seasons. I will watch as long as they keep it.

Cool! It's a totally unrealistic cop drama but it was cute. I am actually surprised it got renewed.
