The new drama will not return for Season 2.
June 30, 2015
NBC has canceled freshman drama American Odyssey after one season. Word spread on social media this evening after some involved with the show took to Twitter with the bad news.
Those following the spring series' ratings likely saw the writing on the wall for some time now. Though American Odyssey premiered with decent numbers for its first episode back in April, viewership fell to less than half that by its third week. The network did air the show's full first season, with the finale airing on June 28.

This show was cancelled because it was a little too close to the *truth*. The greed and corruption in the USA is wide spread and exists at the highest levels. "You will know them by their fruits"...
It would be great if Netflix picks this up and continues with the story. They could show us exactly how far down the rabbit-hole they are willing to go...

Really! At least show us what happens to Odelle. Hope Netflix picks it up, will probably be better on Netflix or cable anyway.

But if everyone waits to see what gets picked up, then nothing will. Best thing to get a show to continue, is to actually watch it if you like it.

Won't miss this one. It wandered for too long in the desert before reaching the promised land. Plus, the goings on in America just amounted to a sideshow.

This show might have been good on Cable TV. As it was on network TV the editing was TERRIBLE. And I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure I'm not alone in my irritation of no subtitles while speaking Spanish. Not EVERYONE speaks Spanish. Who wants to watch a show where you have NO IDEA what the dialog is for whole scenes?
Oh and Justin G. If they spent any more on advertising for this show they would've had it on banners behind air planes. If you didn't see any advertising it's because you don't watch NBC or you had your head in the sand for 3+ MONTHS before it aired. (and during for that matter)

Ok Netflix, this would be the perfect pickup. You could make it even better than the very good show it was with your freedom from broadcast police.

I guess I'm not going to watch a show until they have given it 8 season chance and I know it won't be canned. We should all avoid tv until the 8th season. It's not like low viewing numbers ever got a show cancelled.

I thought this was a good show - well written, acted and directed. Why am I not surprised it was canceled. I am joining those that are waiting to see what survives before bothering to watch anything.

I agree WHY do I bother watching ANYTHING... Truth is I've mostly stopped watching anything new, I watch 1 episode if I go hmm that could be good, I wait to find out if it was renewed for a new season to canceled before I even bother to go back to it. My problem was like Extant, I watched the first and was into it, but then i waited so long to find out if it was renewed or not that I just haven't thought about catching up or getting back into it.
I watched 2 episodes of this and went - I like it, it will probably get canceled, so I will hold off on watching more... and yep gone - ugh....
No closure ever on canceled shows I don't think networks realized, even if they did a webisode that had endings to a lot of their canceled shows (even those running more then 1 season) people may actually watch more new stuff... but me I'm out... I haven't started to watch the whisper show or wayward pines, because if those are canceled why bother... but normally i would start to watch...
