The country music drama ends after Season 4.
May 12, 2016
It is being reported that ABC has cancelled Nashville after four seasons. The veteran drama has long been seen as on the bubble for a fifth season, with things looking promising after new showrunners were recently brought in in the event the show got picked up for 2016-2017.
While never a standout in the ratings, Nashville did hold a devoted fan base throughout its run. The country music-based series released numerous CDs with songs sung by the cast, and also aired TV music specials and held small tours.
Catch the Nashville series finale on May 25.

Please someone tell me this isn't true. This show is wonderful!

Absolutely assinine, and to leave it with such a cliffhanger... Good writing, good music, good characters... Just a shame that crap wins our over substance

As I posted recently, the cancellation has all to do with Connie Britton - the star and producer. Her liberal stance on the latest 'bathroom bill" in TN is what killed the show. She stated she would not want to film anymore in TN. They really can't do the show without her. The tv series makes quite a bit of money from itune downloads. Don't be angry with ABC- they already has new writers working on Season 5.

There are not enough time slots on Thursday night prime time to squeeze in any more SHONDA-SOAP Her latest Venture THE CATCH will have to jockey for position with - HOW TO GET AWAY WITH, GREY'S ANATOMY, & SCANDAL... If you're ABC and a night time soap has to go... well you get the picture.

I love Nashville ! ! Can't believe it is being cancelled. How disappointing....great cast, great story lines, great music....it is the total package!! Wake up ABC before a lot of your audience goes elsewhere.

I loved Nashville, and have downloaded a ton of the music from the show. I also have NETFLIX, and they picked up LONGMIRE, another favorite of mine when it was canceled. If any of you out there have NETFLIX, lets lobby them to pick up NASHVILLE!

This is really disappointing. Even though the past few episodes have been less than stellar it is still an entertaining and unique show. Hopefully this won't be the end of the show. Maybe there just isn't an audience for this sort or show compared to, say, Empire which is really not my thing but is very popular. Times are changing.

Meanwhile the tripe AKA Shonda Rhimes' latest (The Catch) gets renewed; not to mention all those stupid comedies.
Ugh.
This show had a good run. I will be sad to see it go.

So upsetting. Truly hope it gets picked up on another channel. I love all the characters and actors. I was wondering if it was going to get the boot though. Things were getting a bit dragged out and I wasn't sure how much farther they would be able to take the show. That being said, I've loved the show and would LOVEEE for it to stay ONNNN! The singing is amazing and although storylines can be cheesy and dramatic, Nashville has proved itself to make it work and keep everyone enticed. Will definitely miss this show if this is truly the final season. As for Lelas closed minded comment on this page, go elsewhere with your negativity. Equality is the law of the land and things are changing. Get with it or go.

Let me get this straight... ABC cancelles a great show like Nashville but renews a piece of garbage like The Real O'Neals? There is something wrong with the execs at ABC.
