ABC has renewed The Real O'Neals for a second season. The freshman comedy premiered in March as a mid-season replacement and will finish its 13-episode debut run later this month. The show has garnered favorable reviews and respectable ratings in its Tuesday night time slot, where it airs following Fresh Off the Boat.
The Real O'Neals joins five other comedies already picked up by ABC for the 2016-2017 season. Returning as well will be Fresh Off the Boat, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, The Middle, and Black-ish.

Great show that is focused on the non-traditional. Nice that there is something slightly different from all the other mainstream shows on TV.

I agree with pope the show is funny but they are so focused on the gay guy they are not showing the potential of the other people in the show.the cast is all funny so I hope next season they center on all of them not just one.

SOOOOO much potential here. Unfortunately it seems EVERY episode has to focus on the gay kid... It's not the real "O'Neals" it's the "Gay O'Neal kid". If they did episodes focusing on the less-than-moral daughter.. or made the dad have a serious gambling habit.. or the wife smokes a lot of weed... whatever.. just making every single episode about the gay kid has pretty much made this show the same as every "gay" show that premiered in 2013.

I quit watching after 2 episodes. It just was not funny. I'm surprised it was renewed.
