It is being reported that Lifetime had decided not to continue with Devious Maids, cancelling the veteran dramedy after four seasons. The news comes three weeks after the show's Season 4 finale, which aired on August 8, and leaves its season-ending cliffhanger unresolved.

Devious Maids was created by Marc Cherry, best known for bringing us Desperate Housewives, and followed a group of Latina maids who were employed to clean the homes of wealthy families in Beverly Hills, California. The show fared reasonably well for the network over most of its run, though viewership did steadily taper off with each season, reaching series-lows in Season 4 that were less than half of what it drew in its first couple of years on the air.

Being one of only two scripted series on Lifetime, Devious Maids' departure leaves just UnREAL, which will return in 2017 for its third season, currently left in that category.
