The hit series will return in 2017.
October 16, 2016
AMC announced this evening that The Walking Dead has been renewed for an eighth season. The good news comes one week ahead of the much-anticipated Season 7 premiere that has fans anxiously awaiting the big reveal of which character met their fate at the hands of newly-introduced villain Negan.
The long-running drama has continued to maintain its prime time dominance, garnering ratings that rank it as one of television's top series. That streak should continue with Sunday's return thanks to last season's cliffhanger ending.
Another 16 episodes have been ordered for Season 8 of The Walking Dead, which will see the comic book-based series surpass the 100-episode milestone with its premiere episode in 2017.

Re: Mike Dobey: I wouldn't hold your breath on an expanded episode count for either "Dead" series...or really any AMC original. They've settled in quite comfortably with their split season format. (Where they air the first eight episodes and do a mid season finale). Now that 'Fear' and 'Preacher' are on solid footing, they won't have any problems filling the gaps between the halves of each season. When 'Walking' comes back, it's a pretty safe bet that they'll only air the first half of the season and then there will be a premier for another show. I was hoping for Preacher but I think it's too soon. It will likely be a new show I'm guessing.

I love "The Walking Dead" but keep watching "Fear The Walking Dead" even though I STILL don't really care for it...cheered and fist pumped when Chris was killed off on "Fear"

if they are smart they will expand the episode count, Why not make twenty episodes instead of 16? Great show though.

Well this comes as no surprise... but my question is... what in this show is subtitled???

What's wrong with subtitles? I'd rather see that then be expected to believe that every Mexican native conversed with every other Mexican native in only english. It adds authenticity, in my opinion. If you skip tv/movies because of subtitles, you're missing out on a lot of fantastic content.

They need to cancel that horrible Fear the Walking Dead. Half the show is in Sub Titles, its boring and litteraly EVER SINGLE CHARACTER is awful and I pray some mass Zombie attack wipes out the entire cast, turns them into Zombies and they cancel that show.
I want to WATCH TV not READ TV.
