The new comedy gets nine more episodes.
November 5, 2016
ABC has ordered nine additional episodes for the first season of American Housewife after a strong start to the Tuesday night comedy. The pickup makes it the network's second freshman comedy of the fall to earn a full-season.
Through its first four episodes, American Housewife has become ABC's top-rated series on Tuesdays, consistently besting its lead-in The Middle. In fact, the show is Tuesday night's #1 comedy across all broadcast networks.
American Housewife stars Katy Mixon as an average wife and mother who is bringing up her family in the upper-class town of Westport, Connecticut. The additional episode order gives the show a total of 22 episodes for its first season.

This show is bad. it will be off the air before March. real O'neals had a few storylines to work with before they started getting generic. This had a few letters of one wordof wone sentence and it was generic. Let me write the next episode. "She is fat (so she thinks). The kids are in school and the other school kids parents are different than her. Her husband is not her and what he does is strange\wrong. The kids, or her husband, will comment on her weight." No matter when you read this I just wrote the next episode synopsis.
This and the real o'neals probably won't make it to next season.

I'm not a housewife but I love this show. Katy is so funny and I imagine if I were a housewife, I would have the same thoughts as her.

The first episode was annoying but now I think it's funny.

It's a GREAT show. It's such a rare treat to have a show we like actually survive for a while. "American Housewife" and "Kim's Convenience" are the first two comedies that bring out both the guffaws and the enjoyment in a long time.

I am so glad, this show is fantastic. Katy Mixon is brilliant, talented, funny, and beautiful. My husband and I laugh from start to finish. Congrats to a great cast, and a hit show.

Are you kidding? I saw half of the first episode and thought it was the most horrific thing on TV. This is only my second time ever commenting for ABC's benefit, but I wrote to stress that my husband and I really enjoy Notorious and listed other ABC shows I care for. I mentioned a number of shows we love, and a bit of the recent confusion with ONCE, but we still love that one too. At the time, I didn't recall that Designated Survivor is ABC, but we love that show. But seriously, if anyone in network is listening. It is my contention that intelligent viewership would think this Housewife thing is insulting even to air, and that Notorious is worth another look. Please, whatever you do with this crappy series, and the O'Neals, don't scrap Notrious. We also love the Goldbergs, love Fresh off the Boat, still like Modern Family, and Speechless is fine. Still love the rotation of Dancing and the Bachelor and its spinoffs. We still watch Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. Oh - and Quantico. This, by the way is your audience. I have Conviction, the first five episodes un-watched on my DVR, too many fabulous pilots across networks. I'm waiting to see whats going to happen with it, before getting involved. Hope that vote helps.

This is surprising. But still.. it's better than the Real O'Neals.. and that got a second season for some mystifying reason.
