The high-profile series will return for Season 2.
November 14, 2016
HBO announced today that Westworld has been renewed for a second season. The sci-fi drama launched in October to the network's highest viewership numbers for a premiere since 2014's True Detective.
Headlined by an A-list cast, big-name producers, and top-quality production values, Westworld aimed to make a splash with hopes of becoming HBO's next flagship series. And it has not disappointed thus far, averaging over 11 million viewers through its first six episodes, which is actually tracking higher than Season 1 of Game of Thrones.
Based on the 1973 film of the same name, Westworld is a dark odyssey that takes place in the near future, with a re-imagined past, during the emergence of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. The setting is a high-tech adult theme park, where every human appetite can be indulged regardless of how noble or depraved.
10 episodes have been ordered for Season 2 of Westworld, with the new season not scheduled to return until late 2017 or early 2018 due to the scope of its production.

Westworld is fantastic! I can't see how anyone would be bored with it!? As far as 2018 goes, well looks like that's going to be the date... but, I'd make a caution. If one takes too long to re-air a show, people get used to waiting. Like BBC did with Dr. Who, I've got 2 seasons recorded on my DVR and watch it when the mood hits me. They used to take so long before airing another show, or season I got used to it. Then, like trying to fix the problem, the dumped a season in just a few weeks. Now I collect them like candy, and have a sweet when the mood hits me. That should be a cautionary tale. First I get used to the short season, and then I get used to the long waits. I remember when my favorite TV shows ran 23 episodes a season! Wait, some of them still do! And, I watch them as they come out, to make sure I keep the ratings up. Dole them out, and die.

Wow! Just finished binge-watching the entire season. What a ride! Can't wait to see season 2. There were plenty of loose ends that can be developed in the next season. This is one of those shows where I'm going to have to buy the complete set of DVDs...

Glad to see HBO is keeping season 2 at 10 episodes. That way each show significantly adds to the eagerly anticipated climax of the 10th episode, as opposed to putting up with small doses, knowing one would have wait a half year to see fruition.

First of all , f****g bravo to the producers and directors of the show to getting some very high profile actors and actresses to carry this show to the standard it is ..i was amazed after the pilot and now we are already nearing the end of first season, by rights it should be easy 22 episodes per season not 10 ...
its bloody well acted ,the premise that the 1973 film had echos all over the show but with one slight detail which i think makes it worthwhile you see behind the scenes and left to wonder who is really behind westworld ...another season confirmed ....great !! Hurry up and make it !!

First, this show isn't for everyone. There has never been a show with more nudity, sex, and blood. In one scene alone, you see more penises and lady parts then every episode of GoT combined. But, it's not excessive and helps reinforce the main premise of the show, that most of the characters are nothing more than robotic characters in a real-life video game. Beyond that, the story is very complex and purposefully misleading, it's an onion of mysteries. It also addresses a lot of heavy moral and metaphysical questions. Fortunately, it's not as far flung as GoT, which makes it easier to get into.
I loved the show after E1. E3 blew me away and cemented my dedication to it, in spite of the potential for cancellation. Since then, I've been an ardent follower and die hard fan. While the revelation of E7 was no surprise, it's execution was so well done that I can confidently say this is this has been the single best season of any show that I've seen on TV and have confidence that it's conclusion will be equally well done. After these revelations, you can rewatch past episodes almost as if they're completely new.
My only disappointment is that it wasn't renewed soon enough to guarantee an earlier release.

HBO...2018 is way too long to show a 2nd season! You need to be a little more pro-active with your production.

S1 Episode 7 blew me away. I expected something was coming but NOT that. If that is in before the season finale I cant imagine how awesome the Season finale will be.
