The sci-fi drama will continue in 2020.
May 1, 2018
HBO announced today that Westworld has been picked up for a third season. The big-budget sci-fi drama returned for its long-awaited sophomore run just over a week ago after nearly a year-and-a-half off the air.
Headlined by an A-list cast along with big-name producers and high-quality production values, Westworld premiered in 2016 and made its mark by becoming the cable network's most-watched debut series of all time. It has also garnered a healthy amount of critical acclaim, including dozens of award nominations from the likes of the Emmys and Golden Globes.
Based on the 1973 film of the same name, Westworld is a dark odyssey that takes place in the near future, with a re-imagined past, during the emergence of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. The show is set in a high-tech adult theme park, where every human appetite can be indulged regardless of how noble or depraved.
No return date has been announced as of yet, but the latest reports are targeting a 2020 premiere.

Season one was good and had us excited about season two coming out. Totally lost interest half way through season 2. Why is there so much jumping around? Trying to stuff too much info in each episode? Better shows have been canceled.
I'd be nihilistic if it mattered

Ghee-odd! Season 2 is SUCKING big time. I hate "reading" my tv shows. And it's just a bunch of emotional soap-opera like story lines. If season 2 is an indication of what season 3 will be like.. kill it ! Kill it NOW!!!!!!

That's good news. Now the writers have some security to develope the story archs.

I do agree with Sherry. Thus far (2 episodes in) season 2 hasn't been as good because viewers playing "catch up" across the board... they are trying to "catch" viewers up to what's happened after the revolt and at the same time "catch" viewers up to how WW began. Lots of history, not much NEW development yet. But still .. like the show.. will stick it out. (And the 80s tv series version was more akin to Futureworld than it was Westworld, in nature at least.... a bit trite, cliché, and relying on premise more than anything else.)

I love this show. It's actually the second tv series based on the movie from the seventies. The original series was from 1980 or so. But this show is like a work of art, complex and full of hidden meanings. I enjoy it as much as Lost in space' on netflix and that s how is excellent as well. I think they plan to do four seasons but they could do more if they wanted.

I loved last season, but this season is a little rough. Episode 2 was too back and forth! You can tell a story and not go back and forth every 3 minutes!

Like the show.. just kind of wish Evan Rachel Wood would speak in something OTHER than whispers.
