The drama will return for Season 5 in 2017.

It is being reported that Cinemax will be bringing back a new version of its first original scripted series Strike Back for what will be the show's fifth season on the network. The action drama, which is a collaboration between HBO/Cinemax and Sky in the UK, last aired an original episode in 2015 for what was announced at the time as its final season.
The new incarnation of Strike Back will feature an all-new cast, and will follow the restoration of the disbanded Section program, which returns to track down a notorious terrorist who escapes from prison. The unit will set out on a manhunt that unearths a connected web of criminal operations, leading to a conspiracy that could change the face of modern warfare.
Production on Season 5 of Strike Back will begin next year with Jack Lothian, who wrote episodes in Season 4, as showrunner and head writer. It is not yet known if any of the show's original cast will make any appearances.

What was CINEMAX thinking when they cancelled Strike Back two years ago? It was one of the best shows/series on television!
The CAST is what made the show so very exciting, each and every week. Their mistake was CINEMAX killed off all but the TWO main characters. Phillip Winchester has not been the actor for national networks they thought hw would be and as for Sullivan Stapleton; they could cancel Blindspot and get those TWO guys back together or work around Blindspot for Sully. I just cannot imagine the show without those two guys and their chemistry that made the show one of the best I have ever enjoyed in my 61 years. I am also a professional videographer and enjoyed the quality of each episode. I guess we will see. With the former cast, that show had 3-4 MORE seasons left with that cast. I even enjoyed Julia, but again she had to be killed off. Darn Shame!!

Great News, great series, how with a new cast its more likely to be a failure than suceess.
Lets hope they get it right.

Chris, you're partially correct. This will actually be season 6 in the UK & 5 here, but they did air your season 1, and I was highly pissed they killed off the main character.....forget his name. I do love the show but it definitely doesn't even come close to season 1. I just hope I can fall in love with the new cast.

its a blatant rip off, a new cast means a new show its not the same at all i loved the original show but it was the cast who made it, now its gonna be just another spy show, these people have no clue but just see dollar signs.

With Winchester signed on to star in the new NBS series Chicago Law and Stapleton already on Blindspot I don't see either of them returning for the first season. Without either of them I doubt I will be watching.

The prequel series shouldn't count but it was released outside the USA first. Then brought here later. It's a boring drama unlike the action orientated one.

Kinda like the second X-Box was 360 and the third X-Box was One.

Note, there were 5 season in the US too.. they just labeled one of the season Season 0. - Project Dawn (1) - Vengeance (2) - Shadow Warfare (3) - Origins (0) - Legacy (4) -- So Technically it's season 6 in both countries, but they hosed themselves by numbering the 4th season as 0... so thanks Cinemax for the confusion :)

Stupid to cancel it to being with. Cinemax learning that alienating male viewers, like most of regular teevee, kills your audience and most of your shows.
