The Showtime drama will return.
January 9, 2017
Showtime announced today at its Television Critics Association winter press tour presentation that The Affair has been renewed for a fourth season. The good news comes ahead of the critically-acclaimed drama's Season 3 finale, which airs later this month on January 29th.
The award-winning series has continued to be a strong performer for the cable network, drawing fairly consistent viewership and maintaining a generally positive reception from both critics and audiences.
The Affair, which stars Joshua Jackson, Dominic West, Maura Tierney, and Ruth Wilson, follows the emotional fallout of an extramarital relationship that ripped two marriages apart - and the crime that ends up bringing the involved parties together again. The series made its mark on the TV landscape in part by its use of storytelling through the conflicting perspectives of key characters.
No return date has been announced as of yet for Season 4, though a late 2017 premiere appears likely.

This is January 1, 2018 - will someone please tell me if The Affair is coming back ? It was not completed. I heard it was coming this year in January. Is this true? I'm hoping for a conclusion.

Love the show. Very well written. I'd consider myself addicted to it. However I'm trying to figure out if the Guard was really trying to kill Noah or was Noah hallucinating on painkillers? Very thrilled that there will be a season 4

I am very impressed with Ruth Wilson's performance! What a talent. She has really captured the depressive personality of a mother who loses her child. I have been captivated by her performance. I hope we see more of Alison and Noah. Love the show and consider myself addicted. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see Season 4.

This show is still phenomenal. Seasons 1 & 2 were much better than this season but it's still pretty watchable. They need to focus more on Brendan Fraser's character, Noah and Helen. The whole Alison and Cole storyline hasn't been interesting.

Colette, I agree with you 100% on this season. I thought for sure it was going to be cancelled since this season seems slow to me. I'll keep watching too hoping it will improve. If not, I will remove it from my "Genie" lineup.
