The period drama ends after two seasons.
March 9, 2017
PBS announced today that Mercy Street will not be returning for Season 3. The news comes four days after the period medical drama wrapped its second season. The series ends after a total of 12 episodes.
Mercy Street premiered in early 2016 as the public broadcaster's first original American drama in over 10 years. Inspired by real people and events, the series takes place during the Civil War and follows two nurses from opposing sides working in a Virginia hospital.

Oh gosh, I personally disliked this show but my mom is in love with it. Now I have to tell her another show she loves got canned. She's still not over Rush Hour getting canceled, till this day she asks me to write Netflix to pick it back up, now I've gotta put up with this being cut too. Thanks a lot pbs

I can't believe that one of the best shows on TV is cancelled leaving us with the vapid crud they show on regular channels. This show had quality to it and really showed what people went through back then to form the country we have today. I am very disappointed in this news.

This was an outstanding show. I can't believe that it has been cancelled! When you are bombarded with some of the pointless shows on TV this was a welcomed relieve. Too bad!

This was my favorite show, but in season 2 it was very hard to find, they sure didn't try to promote it or offer it when it would get the best ratings. LOVED it and am sick to hear this news; this is too good a show to cancel. Someone else should pick it up. Complicated endeavors are worth the effort! This was quality programming, great acting, and so important a story to tell.

I thought this was cancelled last year and was recently thrilled to find it was back, but now I'm sad again. So many great actors contributing...

What a shame. It was a good show. The season finale was one of the best.

Dang it. This was an excellent show! Too bad the ratings couldn't justify the production cost. At least the ending was satisfying enough a series finale.
