The time travel drama will end in 2018.
March 16, 2017
Syfy announced today that an end has been set for 12 Monkeys. The cable network has picked up the time travel drama for what will be its fourth and final season.
The renewal comes ahead of the show's season 3 premiere, which was confirmed today to be scheduled for May 19. In a first for the series, the entire 10-episode third season will air over the span of just three days. Four back-to-back episodes will start things off on May 19 beginning at 8:00pm. Then on May 20 and 21, three episodes will air between 8:00pm and 11:00pm on each night.
As for Season 4, another 10 episodes have been ordered to conclude the series. No time frame has been set for a return, though 2018 would appear likely at this point.

I hadn't realized that this was renewed for Season 4 when I watched Season 3 this past weekend. So, when I watched the last episode, I was like "NO! You can't just end the show like this!". Makes a lot more sense now that I know it's a cliff hanger for next season. ;)
(I sense someone higher up in Syfy doesn't like the show, because otherwise I think it would have gotten a regular weekly broadcast time. I didn't have it set up for automatic series recording, so I came really close to missing it entirely.)
Moral of Season 3: You can never have too many vests.

I watched the first 3-4 episodes and just couldn't get involved enough to stay invested in it. Now I am glad I didn't...so maybe I'll waith the two years for it to finish and binge on it. Right now season 1 and 2 are on Hulu.

I love that they are going to air this in a block, and I really appreciate it when tptb schedule a "wrap up" season. It shows respect for the audience. I like knowing that I don't have to worry about being left with a cliffhanger. Years ago, tptb for Roswell announced on a commentary where they had intended to go the next season if they hadn't had to do a quick cancellation wrap up, and Shaun Cassidy announced in a short blurb on TV Guide where Invasion would have gone. Giving shows time to wrap up or in a pinch, simply telling us what would have been is greatly appreciated by me. I wish it happened more often...

Ratings matter completely huh? Time warp? I'm still watching but a lot of it got dumb.

Hey Aethn how could there be no clear direction for season 3 when it has yet to premiere??

Hate to see it go but very happy that they are going to give it a REAL wrap up and not just cancel out of the blue. See, networks, thats all we ask for.

I am hoping this final season is not as random as Season 3, there was really no clear direction in Season 3 and the show was all over the place.

Good - I've enjoyed the show. I'm glad it'll get a chance to conclude properly.
