The baseball drama will not return for Season 2.
May 1, 2017
Word is out this evening that Fox has opted against continuing with new series Pitch, cancelling the show after just one season. Showrunner Kevin Falls broke the news on Twitter, posting "I'm sorry to tell you that @PITCHonFOX will not be getting a second season".
The baseball drama premiered last September as part of the network's regular fall line-up, airing a short 10-episode run that garnered its share of critical acclaim but ultimately failed to draw a large enough audience in its Thursday night time slot against some strong competition.
Produced in partnership with Major League Baseball, Pitch followed a gifted female baseball player who achieved instant fame after being called up to the majors. As a fish-out-of-water rookie, she worked to prove herself to her skeptical teammates - some of whom didn't even want her on the field.

Was wondering how this was going to do after the novelty wore off. I wonder if the writing was too dry or did they paint (write) themselves into a corner? Many, but not all good shows last because there is a good, deep. multifaceted story behind it. Stories are just that - stories - and one must suspend a lot of reality so one is not disappointed if what they want to happen - doesn't. It was a good one season show though, and maybe that is a tip for a lot of stories. If they are ort expected to go that long make them one good season, cover everything, then conclude it. Start the next season with something totally different. American Horror Story does this, so if you do not like one story, wait for the next season and maybe that one may be worth your watching.

Had the pleasure of working as an extra for about 5 or so episodes of this show. Such a polite cast and friendly environment!

Boy FOX you dropped the ball on this one! Finally a good show that's clean, family friendly...has good actors and was generating a good storyline. Also Kylie Bunberry is gourgeous, funny and athletic. With the crap FOX keeps on: stupid cartoons, yelling chefs etc.....no wonder they are in last place Again

Finally have a show that is different from all the others and it gets cancelled. I am so over getting into shows just for this to happen. Lets cancel some of these reality shows.
