No Season 2 for the fantasy drama.

It is being reported that Emerald City has been cancelled after one season. NBC's reimagining of The Wizard of Oz premiered as a mid-season entry earlier this year with a 10-episode run. Unfortunately its time on the air drew little fanfare, and its ratings reflected that in its Friday night time slot.
Emerald City took a dark, reimagined look at the Land of Oz, where a 20-year-old Dorothy Gale is swept up into a mystical land far removed from her own. This unsuspecting young woman is forced to navigate this new, dangerous land filled with competing realms and dark magic, on the road to finding her true destiny.

I watched the entire 1st season thinking it would get better. It didn't. Extremely weird and poorly written. It was hard to follow. Wise cancellation for once.

I was pretty bored a few eps in, but for some reason I kept going until the end. I can't even put my finger on why I couldn't push delete, but there always seemed to be some reason to move on to the next ep.
I actually thought I was watching a cancelled show when I watched it so this is certainly no surprise.
Steve S. - In case it matters, I was actually glad I finished it as it does wrap up for the most part with a satisfying enough ending. Given time has passed since you watched your last ep (I assume) I imagine you can easily never get back to it. If you just want quick answers, maybe you can just look up a synopsis. If you even care that much at this point
To anyone who watches SyFy shows, (I am hoping this might be the same audience) Several months ago, someone posted some very informative information about which shows current/recent-ish are made by SyFy and which are purchased. (And maybe other cable networks) I can't find that post and would love to read it again. I apologize to whoever that well informed poster was and to other readers for taking up space.., but I am hoping someone can steer me back to that thread. Thanks.

I was fine with the Wizard of Oz stuff. Once they brought in Elsa from Frozen I gave up on it.

I have 3 episodes left to watch - maybe I'll never get around to it now. There were things I liked about it (I am a sucker for some kinds of fantasy, even if not most). I would have liked it better if it had nothing to do with the Wizard of Oz - witches ok, just get rid of the Wizard and the alternate (or real) life - it was overloaded enough corny stuff. I missed the transgender thing in it, and I didn't give my full attention. It is disgusting how many shows have gratuitous homosexuality and social engineering. I never used to be bothered at all by homosexual characters in tv/movies but now it feels like Hollywood and the media are pushing it everywhere they possibly can.
In summary, I was watching it, but I can't say I'm surprised it got canceled. And I usually have no idea what a given show's Neilson ratings are.

I'm kind of sad, it was interesting. I'm not sure what transgender issue you people are talking about. Unless it's Ozma who was being changed by magic to hide her true identity (or existence really) from the Wizard.

This really makes me unhappy. My mom and I loved this show. We could not wait for Friday night so we could watch it. As to the transgender part, it was so she could remain hidden from the wizard. Maybe if small minded people hard continued to watch they would have known this and liked the show.

Saw that coming a mile away

Yeah if you watch tv anymore everybody is transgender or gay.I don't know how the world population continues to grow.I thought I might like this show but I didn't.

Much Like Debbie.. I watch the 2hr premiere... well most of it.. and then just couldn't get past the seemingly pandered writing. They wanted something new... but used character names from a 120 year old book. It fell apart for me after roughly an hour and a half. Never saw another episode.

I stopped watching once they jumped on the Transgender Band Wagon ... I see other did also from the sharp decline in ratings after that episode. Glad to see this is cancelled.
