The Roku Channel has renewed The Great American Baking Show for an eighth overall season - its third on the streaming service. Roku picked up the competition series in 2022, and it has aired one season so far at its new home.

The renewal is an early one, as Season 7 is not slated to air until later this year. Along with a new season, three seasonal specials were also ordered today: the 'Celebrity Holiday Special' will be back for its third iteration, plus the 'Big Game Special' and 'Sweet Summer Special' are on their way as well.

On the air since 2015, the show has had somewhat of an interesting run. It started out on ABC under the name 'The Great Holiday Baking Show' before switching over to The Great American Baking Show for Season 2. Then in Season 3, judge Johnny Iuzzini was accused of multiple instances of sexual harassment, resulting in the network ending all its associations with him and pulling the show from the air after just one episode. The season would not air, though a winner was eventually announced. The show then continued on the network for two more 'Holiday Edition' seasons in 2018 and 2019 before moving to Roku for Season 6 in 2023.

"What could be sweeter than more of The Great American Baking Show? We can't wait to return to the iconic tent to meet the next batch of bakers and to put your favorite celebrities and athletes to the test," said hosts Zach Cherry and Casey Wilson. "Hosting The Great American Baking Show has already been so much fun - we can't wait to show viewers what we're baking up for season three and these brand-new specials only on The Roku Channel."
