The door is still open for the franchise to eventually continue.

After delaying a decision on the future of 24: Legacy during last month's upfronts, Fox this evening has officially cancelled the action drama after just one season. The move comes following the franchise's first incarnation without Kiefer Sutherland - a 12-episode run in the spring that ultimately fell flat in the ratings.
Fox executives had high hopes for 24: Legacy, giving it this year's coveted post-Super Bowl time slot that started its season off with over 17 million viewers. And while the next couple of episodes fared decently, audiences stopped coming back for the remainder of its run.
It is being reported, though, that Fox and 24's production team are open to revisiting the franchise in the future with a more anthological format, with each season featuring a different setting and a new cast of characters.

Loved the original 24 series with Jack Bauer, but this just sucked ass from the characters to the story, gave up on it after episode 2.

You can't pull off 24 without the character of Jack Bauer. This "legacy" proved that.

I've never watched any of the 24 franchise, but any idiot could tell you that if Sutherland wasn't involved, it was going to be a stretch to get the original viewers on board.
who pays these executives to make such non-creative decisions in the first place? Even low level managers at a Taco Bell are more responsible, else they are fired.
Mmmmm. Craving a nice big burrito supreme from Taco Casa now.

I was a HUGE fan of the original 24 and was looking forward to this reboot. This attempt to reboot the 24 franchise was simply awful! It lacked the intensity of both the characters and story line. I don't know what demographic Fox was attempting to impress with this mess but with some simple updates and better character development this show could have been a success. If this is the best Fox can do with this show they should simply move on and forget bringing back this franchise.

Jack Bauer was missing yeah...and the story did seem to drag...on and on. But the biggest mistake was to reboot the franchise without it's biggest asset. Who? Why Chloe,of course.
P.S. to Fox--APB would have done much better without this show as a lousy lead-in.

Legacy was a halfassed effort. They had to really stretch the audience's suspension of disbelief regarding the motives of everyone who betrayed their country and friends for whatever personal gain they hoped to achieve. They clearly couldn't drag this out for 24 episodes. For a "real-time" format, most of the events in the wrap up (quasi-hour 24) would have really occurred in the first few minutes of hour 13.
But the last 24 with Sutherland was no great prize either. He MURDERED innocent people indiscriminately. Sure, he was fighting heroin addiction, but I haven't heard where that was a legal defense against murder. He killed a whole Russian diplomatic team that had done nothing wrong. The people included office staff, aides, security and their only crime was being in his crosshairs. This show never addresses the collateral damage he causes. I kept thinking he'd be charged with these unprovoked killings in hour 24. Nope, he was patted on the head and thanked for his good work.

I liked Corey Hawkins who played the character Eric; I thought he was believable and intense, but everyone is right, it is not the same without Kiefer Sutherland. There can only be one Jack Bauer.

I watched the whole season just because I kept waiting for Jack Bauer to pop up, kill 10 or 20 terrorists, armed only with a pen knife, and save the day.
