No Season 2 for the Stephen King-based thriller.
September 27, 2017
It is being reported that Spike has cancelled The Mist after just one season. The science fiction thriller ran for 10 episodes over the course of the summer with its finale airing in late August. A second season appeared to be in doubt after the show received mixed reviews and failed to draw a sizeable audience.
Based on a story by Stephen King, The Mist followed the story of a family torn apart by a brutal crime, after which an eerie mist rolled into their small town, isolating its residents from the rest of the world. Family, friends, and even adversaries are forced to band together as the rules of society break down, in order to battle the mysterious mist and the threats it brings.

The problem with shows like this is that true Stephen King fans are looking for something like the original story, then when they get something like this, they are disappointed and stop watching.

This mini-series was well done, but they made a horrendous mistake by not introducing the monster insects and spiders, which made the short story a scary read. The characters were good, the story was building to (I thought) a good ending, and then they left us with a cliffhanger. The first movie ended horribly compared to the book, and this series went absolutely nowhere. Good riddance.

dang. It was better than the walking dead spin off. Should have been planned to be a 1 year and done show.

It was doomed when they didn't use monsters

This was an o.k.short story and a lousy movie before this.
Can we get something original, and not a reboot or reimagining? Seriously.

Yes, the show was not the best, but we were expecting to start watching something new, other than the original movie, in the second season. This was a total waste of time.

Spike is a dying network. The Mist wasn't spectacular, but was watchable IMO, especially compared to some of the real garbage being shoved upon viewers these days.
Maybe now that Paramount is taking Spike over and renaming it as Paramount channel it will improve, but I seriously have my doubts...

let's not be snowflakes and blame this on any agenda. This was lazy writing and poor acting. I was saying lines before characters, almost word for word. Everything was super predictable or it was just a random changes needed to get to some cliched story idea. They had a "gay best friend" because other shows had. The whole idea was going to be hard to do after the great movie anyways.
