The new drama only receives a small top up.
November 12, 2017
ABC has reportedly ordered three additional episodes for the first season of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. The freshman drama premiered last month and is six episodes into its run.
Jason Ritter stars as the titular character, Kevin Finn, who is a self-absorbed man down on his luck and on a perilous path to despair. When he heads back home to stay with his twin sister and niece, an unlikely celestial being appears to him and tasks him with a mission to save the world, giving Kevin a new purpose in life.
While reviews have leaned to the positive side, the show has struggled to find an audience on Tuesday nights at 10:00pm. Episodes regularly fall behind its time slot competition, drawing fewer overall viewers and averaging below a 0.8 in the adults 18-49 demographic.
While the three-episode pickup does extend the show's season, the small number raises questions about the show's future. On one hand, the total number of episodes falls short of a full season order - something typically required for a show to return for another season. But on the other hand, ABC's top new drama The Good Doctor, only received five extra episodes for its first season and is considered a shoo-in for a renewal.
For now it appears the network is taking a wait-and-see approach to Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, with its future likely-dependent on how it performs for the remainder of the season.

Tucker, you doth protest too much. It seems the Holy Spirit is convicting you. ;)
There is SO much on TV that is anti-"Christian", anti-morals, anti-anything-good ... one show? Really? Even if you were correct (which it seems you are not) anything "Christian" pales in comparison.
I guess Lucifer is a Christian show too since they mention God and angels.

The thing about the good doctor is that Freddie highmore and producers made a deal with ABC that no season of TGD will make it past 18 episodes so technically it's having a full v season

I don't find myself super excited to watch the next episode of this show, but even so, I do like it. I doubt I would have any interest at all if they hadn't cast Jason Ritter. He saves this show - no pun intended. I found myself surprised by the comments in this thread about religion as that never even occurred to me. I just think of it as a fantasy show and leave it at that.
.
The one thing my mind does keep flipping to is "Joan of Arcadia" even though it is certainly a different show. I'd love to know what made Jason Ritter take roles in both jobs...

Tucker > Just because there is mention of angels and a god doesn't make it catholic propaganda. It's clearly not a christian show any more than, say, Supernatural.

I really like this show , It's a change scenery from all the cops shows we are used to see.

Give it a break this show is great, we need a little distraction from all the world events. Jason Ritter, I love you.

This show is mildly entertaining, though it is not going anywhere. He's been looking for the other 35 for however many episodes and has yet to find any; he just has "visions" about where to find the first. I have a feeling the show will get cancelled before he finds anyone.
As for Tucker, it is laughable that you think that Christians are responsible for this show and this network.

This is a perfect show for displaying Jason Ritter's talents. I can't picture anyone else playing this role. His natural timing and physicality bring a lot of quality to this series. There is much potential here. I hope it lasts long enough to establish a foothold.

I watched the first episode and that was enough. I am a fan of Jason Ritter, but just didn't like this show.
