The acclaimed comedy will conclude next year.

FXX announced today that You're The Worst has been renewed for a fifth and final season. The veteran comedy has enjoyed a successful run on the cable network, with each season garnering acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. The decision to end the show was reportedly mutual between FXX and creator Stephen Falk.
A romantic comedy of sorts, You're The Worst follows a brash, self-involved writer who has fallen in love with a cynical, self-destructive public relations executive. Against their better judgement they attempt a relationship despite their toxic personalities. An inevitable series of ups and downs ensues, though no matter the situation, the two can't fight that they appear destined to be together.
Season 4 concludes tonight with back-to-back episodes. Look for Season 5 to premiere in the summer or fall of 2018.

Previous seasons felt like they were just quarter aged people who hadn't taken the time to look at themselves yet. This season felt like they had taken the time to look, or that someone (Gretchen returns home ep) had told them to look at themselves. After that it was like a 30 something with people who had to evolve into someone else. As with any show, the boat is always moving toward the shark. Your only options are to either stop the boat or take the ramp.

Thankfully it's ending. I've loved the first three seasons of this show, but this current season is a hot mess. The first three had these rather ugly people (figuratively) grow and become better-ish people; this season has been about watching them regress and become worse than they were to start with. Hopefully season 5 can right the ship on the way out.
