The new drama did not receive any extra episodes.
November 16, 2017
NBC released its mid-season schedule today and it's not good news for The Brave. The freshman military drama is nowhere to be found in the line-up, meaning the network did not order any additional episodes for the show's first season.
The hour-long series premiered in September and through eight episodes has been a decent performer in the 10:00pm time slot on Monday nights, though it regularly gets beaten by a substantial margin by The Good Doctor, which brings in roughly double the viewers, both overall and in the key adults 18-49 demographic.
The Brave takes place in the world of America's elite undercover military operations. In D.C., a team of analysts utilize highly-advanced surveillance technology from their headquarters, while out in the field a Special Ops squad of expertly-trained undercover specialists risk it all as they execute dangerous missions behind enemy lines in the name of freedom and saving the lives of innocent people.
What today's news means for now is that Season 1 of The Brave will end after its initial order of 13 episodes is up, with a final decision on a second season to come at a later date. As history goes, however, Season 2 does not appear likely at this point.
Taking The Brave's time slot in the New Year will be new crime drama Good Girls, which premieres on February 26.

"The Brave" is an excellent representation of covert military/undercover ops going on in today's world. Admittedly, some of the plots stretch reality, but overall it is in a class with the movie "American Sniper". Having first hand knowledge of some ops in the past - I'm a retired Army Veteran - it treats us as a dedicated group who have peace as our motive (believe it or not).
So I say again, please do not discontinue this series. For crying out loud, offer it to another network (American Heroes Channel or the like).
Sincerely...

The Brave far outshines Seal Team and Valor. The Brave is all about the mission whereas the other two are about the personal drama the two teams are experiencing. If they can't find a way to keep The Brave going it will be another major blunder by NBC (Nothing But Clueless).

I realize SEAL team and The Brave are on different networks with different time slots. Most importantly that means they have different powers that be.
.
That said, has anyone else pulled up the ratings for both shows on the link above? I find it very interesting that SEAL Team has dropped off viewers almost every week. The Brave, on the other hand, is relatively steady.
.
I hope this announcement doesn't stop people from watching.
Even more interesting to me is comparing the steady The Brave ratings to other NBC shows - both past and present.. I found many with lower and/or more inconsistent ratings that were given another season!?
.
I know there are lot of things in addition to ratings that determine additional episodes and seasons, but still!

I was telling someone recently that I preferred The Brave over Seal Team because it was a group of professionals, sharing enough of personal life to round out characters, but not carrying the personal angst that the Seal Team lead seems to carry. The show is about the mission more than the angst. The show is about the teamwork, the skills, and the attitude that gets the job done.
I do hope fan comments will have some weight going forward.

What else is new? After all, this is the network classic for pulling shows during or after their first season and making huge mistakes while doing it! This is the network that canceled JAG with 1 unaired episode left in its first season, leaving CBS to pick it up for a second season the following year where JAG went on to enjoy NINE successful seasons on CBS! It also spun off the hit series (I think you all might have heard of this one) NCIS, which went on to spin off 2 successful hit shows (L.A. and N.O.) as well, all of which are still going strong on CBS. So no nothing surprises me that NBC does anymore. One last thing, I really love this show. I hate to see it go!

This is one of the best new shows that has come out in a long time. Instead they are bringing back old shows that were cancelled before for a reason.
NBC does not know what they are doing. I agree with everyone here. KEEP THE BRAVE and recheck some of the other shows.

Figures that this show wouldn't continue. Best new show in years! Makes a person want to give up on Network TV. It was fun while it lasted.
