No Season 2 for the Jay Pharoah comedy.

It is being reported that Showtime has cancelled White Famous after its first season. The new comedy had just wrapped its 10-episode freshman run earlier this month after an October premiere.
Based on the personal experiences of Jamie Foxx, White Famous starred Jay Pharoah as a talented, up-and-coming young black comedian who, while furthering his career, seeks to maintain his credibility in the stand-up world as he crosses over into becoming "white famous."
The writing was somewhat on the wall that Showtime may not continue with the series. Not only was viewership on the low side, but fellow newcomer SMILF was already renewed back in November despite a later premiere.

Michael rapaport stole the show. So did joe pharoahs indian agent. Overall funny show. Hopefully netflix picks it up, and they leave jamie foxx dress wearing ass out of it.

I agree if it would have starred a tranny with mommy issues it would have gotten renewed after the first episode. Maybe had some bondage involving Harvey Weinstein , it would have gotten an Oscar node. Maybe the next series would star kid leaving the gas station in a hoodie confronted by a white Mexican neighborhood watch and then shot in a scuffle. Never mind that would have ended after one episode.

The title gave away enough of a premise to turn a lot of people off. If it was about "Getting to the Next Level" or "Breaking Out" or "What Needs to Be Done" to make it (3 non race based titles) then call it that. A lot of comedians around the world are not as famous as others. Every city with a club has a comedian who is really only known at that club, or in that neighborhood. By using race in the title one could tell it was going to be about race and blame, not an unknown trying to make it. Even if one says the show wasn't, the title proved it was. Of course you lose viewers when you over premise the show in the title.

With today's hollywood... I'd speculate merely dressing like a woman isn't enough... you also have to be willing to have a love scene with a member of the same sex.

The show accomplshed what it set out to do. Explain that in order to become a famous actor, you have to be willing to dress like a woman at least once as a "right of passage". So in that way, and in no other, the show was a success.

A show based on a racist actor, Jamie Foxx. The title alone is divisive, and doesn't help anything. Get rid of SMILF while your'e at it. What a horrendous POS.

Jay is insanely talented and for some reason not reaching the level of stardom I think he deserves
