The revered comedy is returning to prime time.
January 24, 2018
Another beloved series is making its way back to television. CBS announced today that a new installment of Murphy Brown is in the works for a return to its original network.
On-board for the revival are both creator Diane English and star Candice Bergen, who will reprise her iconic role as the famous investigative journalist 20 years after the show first went off the air. Talks are reportedly underway for other original cast members to return as well, but nothing has been firmed up at this point.
Murphy Brown premiered in 1988, airing for 10 years as one of television's top comedies. Over the course of its 247 episodes, the series used political satire to tell stories that reflected current world events and politics. Along the way, the show picked up 18 Emmy Awards, including two for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Look for the Murphy Brown revival as part of the 2018-2019 television season.

Whatever happened to comedians and/or sitcoms poking fun at ALL politicians; like Bob Hope and Johnny Carson used to do??? Even in "Last Man Standing," despite the overall Conservative tilt, there are notable Liberal jabs at Conservatives. Fair & Balanced; that's how to administer the WHOLE country its proper dose of political funnybusiness. I have been a Murphy Brown viewer this Fall only to see just how pedestrian the so-called humor will be. So far, it's about as unfunny as I expected it would be. The little dog is the most engaging character on the show. Finally, I can't tell from viewer comments and the statements of this website whether or not the show is really cancelled.

I rather watch THIS show come back on the air than the reality shows and STUPID shows that have been on the last 5 years. Bring on Murphy Brown!

No need to bring back this show. We already have a million Trump hating shows already. We need quality programing not this political garbage.

That's cool.
I hope it does good, but it's a different time then 1988/1998.
It will be fun to see....
