No Season 2 for the period drama.
January 25, 2018
It is being reported that USA Network has cancelled Damnation after one season. The period drama premiered last fall with a 10-episode run that concluded just last week. The move marks the cable network's first cancellation of 2018.
Set in the 1930s American heartland, the series follows a man disguising himself as a small town preacher as a means of starting a complete insurrection against the status quo. Unbeknownst to him, an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker to stop the uprising at all costs. But what those around them don't know is that these two men share a secret, bloody past.
Reviews of Damnation were mixed from both critics and viewers. Ultimately its ratings reflected that, as the show's modest audience turnout for its premiere episode tapered off significantly during the course of its run.

I think I will follow what others have said they do and not even bother to watch a new show in its first season. I'm so tired of getting hooked on great shows like this one, and then being disappointed when some idiot cancels it in favor of mindless dribble.

I found the show to be ponderous at times and not that easy to follow. That said, it was still a lot better than much of the garbage that people like these days.

So disappointed, I watched every episode as soon as I could, a great look at American history and lifestyle in the great Depression -- so they cancel it and the networks will give us another batch of moronic sitcoms about dysfunctional families and more shows glorifying drug dealers and sociopaths. USA was looking for provocative programming such as Damnation and then they throw it away. But we can all look forward to next week when the Olympics will be hijacked by the talking heads at the sports networks and we will not actually see any events.

The Plopster has said this before, but don't blame the network when a show ends on a cliffhanger then gets cancelled. Blame the show runner. Show runner was well aware he/she didn't have a season 2 locked in, and chose to end on a cliffhanger anyway. Network is under no obligation to sign a new season on just because the show runner decided not to wrap the story up.

Exactly why I don't watch new series when they first come out. I know it is a double edge'd sword because the show does not get the ratings, but at the same time I am sick of getting really hooked on a show and then they just cancel it.

Well that's disapponting after the cliffhanger they left it on.

Well that isn’t good news! I just finished the last episode. Ended on a cliffhanger. Nice.
