The crime drama extends its impressive run.

CBS announced today that Elementary has been renewed for a seventh season. The good news comes just two episodes into the crime drama's current season, which this year was moved to the network's mid-season schedule for the first time.
The hour-long procedural has been an overall reliable performer for CBS over the course of its time on the air, though ratings have taken a hit in recent years. However, the fact that the network owns the series and that it does well internationally likely factored into today's Season 7 pickup.
Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as famed British detective Sherlock Holmes, who takes residence in New York in order to deal with his addiction issues. While there, he teams with Dr. Joan Watson and the two work as police consultants solving crimes around the city.

We just finished watching all 5 seasons available on DVD, and the end of season 6 is tomorrow night. So glad it was renewed for season 7. Joan Watson is one of my favorite characters on TV right now. Can’t believe that anyone is questioning that people are OK with a name like “Sherlock.” Who cares? There are so many people with atypical names out there, who cares about a name like “Sherlock?”

@Blaze. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
@Rodentman. Sherlock Holmes an odd name. Rodentman is normal?

@Blaze, so if your premise is correct why is a detective named Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Watson? So they weren't already historical characters and in the show they are just random names? Sorry I can't accept that. Anyway, the show is too formulaic and predictable.

@rodentman - Not exercising your imagination there, guy. You might as well say "How come in all these shows featuring action in the White House, Trump isn't walking in and demanding these squatters be evicted from his office?"
Because it is a fictional world. And in this fictional world, it is obvious that Sir Alfred Conan Doyle did not write any books featuring a character called "Sherlock Holmes". Possibly his detective was named "Mortimer Quimby". Possibly he wrote only cowboy stories.

Why??? This show lost its original take on Sherlock long ago. Now it's just another procedural cop drama with nothing new to saw about its characters.

I’m only 14 episodes behind, slowly watching. I like it even with Lucy Liu’s often bad acting and a frequently unintelligible mumbling Jonny Lee Miller. Yeah, the name Sherlock is comical. Did I say I still like it though?

Funny how no one in the show bats an eye when "Sherlock Holmes" is introduced to them. How corny can you get? And the virtually comatose smileless Watson. The show is well past its prime, if it ever had one. Maybe 2 seasons but no more.
