The 70s dramedy will not return for Season 3.
September 28, 2018
It is being reported that Showtime has cancelled I'm Dying Up Here after two seasons. The dramedy ended its run back in July after a total of 20 episodes. Never a big ratings draw, its viewership in Season 2 did improve on its freshman numbers.
Set in the early days of L.A.'s standup comedy scene in the 1970s, I'm Dying Up Here follows a group of up-and-coming comics vying for their chance to perform at Goldie's, the most-popular standup club in Los Angeles. But to do so they will have to brave the pain of sharing their innermost thoughts and darkest secrets in the name of getting a laugh, while trying to win over the club's ruthless owner, who rules the Sunset Strip.

I liked this show a lot. Brad Garrett's character was maybe the reason the second season got more eyeballs than the first, but I think it might also be the reason for the cancellation. Whether he just wants to stay on "Single Parents" or his storyline on this show was just an awful injection into what the show premise started on... we'll never know.
