No Season 3 for the struggling comedy.
November 2, 2018
It is being reported that Freeform has cancelled Alone Together after two seasons. The sad news comes two months after the comedy's August 29 sophomore finale, which now acts as its series ender.
Executive-produced by comedy trio The Lonely Island, which includes Andy Samberg, the half-hour series premiered earlier this year but ultimately struggled to find a sizeable audience. Season 2 still happened, though, as Freeform had actually ordered it three months ahead of the show's original premiere.
Alone Together stars stand-up comedians Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo as two millennial misfits from different backgrounds who attempt to make their way into the narcissistic and status-obsessed culture of Los Angeles. Throughout their escapades, they find salvation in their strictly-platonic friendship.

Sad for this to happen as I enjoyed the character chemistry (and they had some surrounding cast that were developing their characters out in interesting ways,) but as others have mentioned, there's not much to be surprised by in the cancellation. Freeform also tried to share the exposure by having it bingeable on Hulu, which was another sign that they were trying whatever they could before giving up. (Wonder how those numbers counted, and if that counted negatively/positively against its against its renewal chances -- no word that Hulu was interested in taking it off Freeform's hands?) Bummer for me, but I enjoyed the 3 seasons it had.

We all saw this coming when Freeform told us that it had no confidence in the show. If a show is renewed for a 2nd season before the premiere it is because the station doesn't think people will watch it otherwise. This is a ploy to get people to talk about it and watch. If they care about a show they wait to see how it's doing and renew it. Very few shows get the treatment and go on to a 3rd season or even finish 2nd.

I'm sad this is ending. I think Esther Povitsky is great and both she and Benji Aflalo are very funny. They had great chemistry together.

I seen this coming, their was only 8 episodes and the network double aired the episodes in August, so the whole season run was a month.
Plus the episodes was leaked online prior to the season premiere, this show had promise.
