The movie-based drama will return for Season 2.
November 6, 2018
USA Network announced today that The Purge has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes ahead of tonight's Season 1 finale, which caps a successful debut run for the horror drama.
The hour-long series premiered in September and has gone on to become the cable network's top drama. While reviews have been mixed, this season it has so far averaged 2.3 million viewers (Live+7), with 1.2 million in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Based on the movie franchise of the same name, The Purge is set in an alternate version of America, where a totalitarian political party is in power. During a 12-hour period when all crime is legal, even murder, various seemingly-unrelated, conflicted residents of a small city go to great lengths to survive the night as the clock winds down.
Look for Season 2 of The Purge in 2019.

Ok. So here is the actual definition of a limited series, which is how the Purge was categorized.
Limited series may refer to: A television series with a predetermined number of episodes telling a complete story arc, usually longer than a miniseries. It can also refer to a show the network wants to try out in smaller doses with the possibility of renewal based on how well it does in the ratings. Anthologies are also sometimes referred to as limited series.
Anyway, I liked the first season for the most part but honestly don't know how they will make a second. I'm not really interested in following Miguel and his sister as I found her super annoying. Maybe they are going to do the UK since it ended with them talking about the possibility of it starting over there.

A "limited run series' is not "10 episodes" . It's typically ONE season, how many ever episodes that may be. There are a million series out there which run 10 episode seasons and are not classified as "limited run series"

Decent. But tried to extend about 2 episodes of story into a 10 episode season. Hope there's more meat on the bones in Season 2.

I watched a couple episodes and it wasn't too bad. Let the rest pile up on my DVR to see if it would get renewed before investing too much time. Guess I'll start binging.....

Never watched the movies because in the raylan125 household, it would have been a five minute movie before the "purgers" in their silly masks were dispatched, then the final credits would start rolling.
Started watching this, and it was not too bad.

I'm not surprised. On a side note, limited series just means it has a shorter season, but isn't short enough to be a mini - series. An event series is one and done.

This show wasn't bad but could have been much better. Hoping they improve it for season 2.

i thought i would hate it. But instead I liked it and will watch next season, and telling us you have not watched a show is a meaningles post. Watch then judge.

The premise is so ridiculous that the show is uninteresting. I frankly don't see how they can continue it beyond season 1. Just end it.

I really like the show. Penelope grates on my last nerve at times because she is about the most selfish character ever made, but the rest of the cast is entertaining.
