No back order for the new CBS comedy.
November 28, 2018
Today CBS unveiled its midseason comedy lineup, and absent from the schedule is Happy Together. The lack of new episodes means the freshman comedy will end its run after its initial 13-episode order.
While the network is officially leaving the show's future up in the air for now, the lack of a back order cannot be viewed as a good sign. Add that to the fact that the series has been a mediocre ratings performer thus far, and the prospect of a second season appears very unlikely.
Happy Together follows Jake and Claire, a thirty-something couple who have grown tired of their uneventful lives. When Jake's famous pop star accounting client shows up at their door to escape the paparazzi, it turns their lives upside down. With a cool, young celebrity now staying with them, Jake and Claire start to reconnect with their old selves - back when things were more exciting and less routine - with varying results.
Moving forward into the new year, Man With a Plan will return for its third season on February 4, taking over Happy Together's time slot at 8:30pm.

He was great in Happy Endings, and even funnier in New Girl. The problem is definitely not DWJ, and not ASW either, because the two of them had fantastic chemistry. It's just the writing. Suspending disbelief is one thing. Believing either of them are out of shape, let alone fat, was insulting to the rest of us. And he's funny when he's silly, but the show never raised much higher than basic slapstick and they both have much more to offer than that.

Well they gave it a fair chance. (13 episodes) and the public said meh to it. Thats the problem when you go premise heavy pilot. If the show works without the premise being so heavy your already so invested that you have no choice but to put it in every episode and water it down, or take it out admitting defeat and changing the show which makes people feel like the show has no direction.

@Lisa
So every 40 something has a young famous person living in their house with retired alcoholic parents?
I love how people say how wholesome the show was but the parents drank all the time. So let me get this right. sex and violence bad, but alcoholic drinking good?

I actually like the show, and I know it had more potential than just 3 episodes. I say things on IMSC for attention, usually.

One of the funniest sitcoms on TV. Can't understand why it will be cancelled. Finally have a good show without violence and sex. Don't cancel the good one's

We really like this show! As 40 somethings, we totally related!

The most uninspired, derivative, not a single fresh idea sitcom in this season. Was surprised it wasn't canceled after 3 episodes.

I really had high hopes for this show, but I couldn't tolerate more then a few episodes. I did like several cast members, but it still wasn't enough.

Cute show --not a MUST SEE but entertaining and something safe to watch during dinner.

I feel kind of bad for the guy that played cooper because it's not his fault. but, the sentiment about his character being completely useless to the plot is pretty much unanimous. this could have easily been a couples sitcom. i think they should strongly consider a minor retweak i don't know maybe keeping Chris Parnell as your usual beloved wacky neighbor.
