AMC announced today that The Son will end its run after its already-ordered second season. The western drama premiered in 2017 with a 10-episode run that garnered decent ratings for the cable network airing on Saturday nights.
It has been over a year-and-a-half since the series was picked up for Season 2, and a premiere date for its now-final run has been announced for Saturday, April 27 at 9:00pm.
Based on the 2013 Phillipp Meyer novel of the same name, The Son is a multi-generational saga that follows the McCullough family through two concurrent time periods. The first takes place in 1849, where a young Eli McCullough is kidnapped and indoctrinated into a tribe of Comanches. The other is set 60 years later, where Eli is now the grown, charismatic patriarch of the McCullough clan. Eli applies his brutal Comanche worldviews in his dealings while struggling to maintain his family's cattle empire during the turbulent Bandit Wars of South Texas.
