The streaming comedy will be back for Season 2.
August 8, 2019
Netflix announced today that Mr. Iglesias has been picked up for a second season. Executive producer and star Gabriel Iglesias took to Twitter with the good news, which comes six weeks following the comedy's freshman release.
The half-hour series stars popular comedian Gabriel Iglesias as a good-natured history teacher who works at his alma mater, Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. He spends his days trying to make a difference in the lives of his smart, but underperforming, students.
Look for Season 2 of Mr. Iglesias in 2020.

Watched the whole season, I thought it was pretty good and deserving of a second season. His comedy specials are also pretty good.

Iglesias had ONE JOKE in the 90s ("fluffy") that he beat to death over and over and over and over and over..... and he gets a show?? He never had ANY other material. And, this show.. yeah.. really shows it. This show wasn't worth a renewal merely based on the comedy... and the cheeeeeeeesieness of it all. Iglesias was "lucky", he was never "funny". Still ain't.

So, reading the earlier comments, on one hand you have, "it looks like if the cast is not white it's a safe bet it gets renewed", and on the other hand, "I am sure that if the cast of that show was more of a WASP based with heterosexuals, it wouldnt have gotten canceled". Right…
Or maybe, you know, the cancellation or renewal of a show is a purely economic decision, not based on the race or sexuality of the characters…

So happy this show got renewed. I know there are haters out there that dont appreciate great shows like this one. Glad Netflix gave this show another season. They blew it when they cancelled One Day at a Time. But then again I am sure that if the cast of that show was more of a WASP based with heterosexuals, it wouldnt have gotten canceled. Those who hate Mr. Igleasias, stick with those sucky shows like The Bachelor.

This show is decent but kind of surprised it got renewed. I don't see it making it further than a handful of seasons. Netflix has canceled way better shows. And no @Matt it has nothing to do with race. I just believe some of the shows that get renewed might have more popularity or attention based on competition. Maybe this show brought in better feedback than Santa Clarita Diet. Loved that show was annoyed it got canceled but maybe if it had more viewers or more feedback in general it might have not gotten canceled. :(

I'm sure I'll be told if I'm wrong but it looks like if the cast is not white it's a safe bet it gets renewed.

Renzoroy...I agree. This show is not that funny and I love Fluffy. Netflix has cancelled better shows so I am not sure why this was renewed.
