The drama will return for a second season.
October 22, 2019
CBS announced this afternoon that Evil has been picked up for Season 2. The early renewal comes just four episodes into the drama's freshman run, which has so far been garnering critical acclaim despite not being a ratings standout.
From Robert and Michelle King, who created The Good Wife and The Good Fight, Evil stars Mike Colter and Katja Herbers as a priest-in-training and a skeptical clinical psychologist who investigate unexplained phenomena such as demonic possession, miracles, and supernatural occurrences, as they try to determine if there is a scientific explanation behind it.
There will be no back order for Season 1, which will stand at its original 13-episode order that will conclude in January. Look for Season 2 next fall as part of the 2020-2021 season.

I'm glad it got renewed because I really like it and it seems they always cancel the shows I like, but I really hope they tone down the daughters. All they do is scream and talk over each other. They rarely add anything to the story line and are mostly annoying. I'm also failing to understand why they made our main character married. Seems no point to it other than to cause some unnecessary romantic drama.

It's pretty obvious that everyone here criticising the show's content has never actually watched the show. It's fine to not like something, but at least dont make up false criticism on the spot.

Why invite this type of demon/devilness into our homes. Is there not enough darkness going on in our world?? Lets give our kids some positiveness.

this is a good show. However , we certainly need to see the demons strut their stuff and be a force , instead of always debunking storylines.

Of the new TV shows that have come out this year, this show (Evil), All Rise, and Prodigal Son are by far my favorites. Very happy to hear this is being picked up for another season.

Of the new shows my friends, family, and I have tried so far, we all agree Evil is the best. I like the casting of Katja Herbers as she seems normal and is perfect for the part. In all shows, I always try to stay at least 1 week behind in case an episode leaves me urgently wishing to watch the next ep. With this show, I seem to always be current which is VERY unlike me. Yay for this season 2 announcement.

Same old same old.. detective show with a "twist" .. rehashing old scripts to add the current "twist" to the stories, but nothing new. Watched 2 episodes... removed it from the DVR. I get so sick of "filler" shows that don't have progressive storylines -- instead you get 5 minutes at the beginning and 5 minutes at teh end of each episode which BRIEFLY continues the primary story.. then you get 30-35 minutes of junk you don't need to actually pay attention to. All these cop/detective/legal/medical shows follow this same tired formula.

I think many might be missing the underlying current on this show. While yes, each week it seems as if the “demon” possessions and “miracles” are all being debunked, there is a “war” coming that I am interpreting as hell opening up. It’s most certainly been a slow build so far but there’s definitely something “evil” building that i am sure will make itself pretty clear by Episode 13. Personally, I didn’t think I was going to like this show but I find it I actually intriguing in a way other shows from this genre have bored me on. I look forward to seeing where it leads. Although I must say, I wish they hadn’t used Michael Emerson in this show. He always creeps me out in every role he’s in and makes me cringe in every scene he shows up in. But maybe that’s a good thing in the role he’s playing in this show?
