The sci-fi drama will return for Season 2.
October 29, 2019
Netflix announced today that Another Life has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes three months after the sci-fi drama's freshman debut, which ultimately failed to impress critics or generate a lot of positive buzz. Enough viewers must have found the series, though, to warrant today's pickup.
The series stars Katee Sackhoff as Niko Breckinridge, an astronaut who leads a young crew on a mission into space after a massive alien artifact lands on Earth. Together they attempt to track down the object's source and make first contact.
Look for Season 2 of Another Life in 2021.

Got around to watching this recently. Or at least tried to.
As Sci-Fi it is awful. They seemed to think that dark matter is actually dark and you can't see through it. A mutiny arises over leadership even though the series makes it clear the spaceship has instantaneous holographic communication with earth and could have the situation decided by higher-ups back on earth.
And then there were all kinds of casting and plot issues. A young crew because "they take risks"? They acted like a bunch of kids. Nobody acts like an adult.
If you want to see a good "first contact" series your time is better spent with "The Expanse".

Don't understand how this got picked up. i couldn't even complete season 1. Can't understand a plot where the Earth's most important mission is given to the most amateurish/immature group of barely trained people.

I was under the assumption that this show was a one season story. when the season ended without a conclusion I was not thrilled. I hope the writers and Netflix have an ending planned, but a doubt it. I also do not know if I care.

Sorry, but what is going on at Netflix all the crappy shows get renewed and everything else gets cancelled..Reason ? - Money??? It can't be the question of creating great art!

I am so stoked that this got renewed, I was worried it flew under the radar a little too much and would get cancelled. As for Netflix having foreign shows now dubbed to English, I believe it is good, lets us watch shows we wouldn't normally get to see at all. I for one found this German show called Dark, it is one of the better time travel shows I have watched(at least the first season was, havn't watched second season yet).

OMg. it was not that bad. It was a typical sci fi show. I didn't like the first officer goes nuts subplot. But it was a decent little sci fi show. The show did have a interesting take on aliens as truly evil genocidal beings. I think the show moved quickly and was fun. What the hell do you people want? the expanse? not every show can be that good. Or the new lost in space. which is actually a good family drama in space. And there was no politcal social engineering other than a transvestite character. OH NO. As if I cared that I have one I work with. I really do. NO crapola!. I do not care as long as the transvestite is polite and works hard.

The story line is entertaining enough, but that... thing... is just irrelevant beyond forcing political social engineering down your throat.
I've already removed it from my list.

Sorry, Dareal, but this show was not "good ass hell". It is in fact very bad.

This show was horrible. Yet, Netflix keeps renewing crappy shows and then removing shows all together. After I finish up with the Ranch and Marcella, I am cancelling my subscription.
The movies are at least 10 years old and the tv shows are in Korean, Hindi, whatever. Yes, I do know that have world-wide viewership but they seem to be making more foreign shows.
