Francis, it was definitely cancelled regardless of cliffhanger or not. Katee Sackhoff, a producer on the show, said she wished they could have done more seasons. Her statement is in this article:

This one is concluded. Only 2 seasons, but there wasn't a cliffhanger ending. You should change this one. Wasn't exactly cancelled.

It was OK but I won't miss it if it doesn't return
Season 2 was better than season 1 but it was kinda abrupt at how many characters were just thrown away for season 2

(Remember Starbuck?) So this show is an original. It is nothing like I have ever seen. It is as if they put a bunch of Millennial's on a space ship with one adult and the task of saving the earth. Watch them as they have *very* soft porn sex with each other and constantly bicker over petty things that slowly lead to their destruction. In many ways this show is NOT good. But for some strange reason I cannot stop watching it. PLEASE HELP ME!
