Netflix announced today that Black Summer has been picked up for a second season. The drama premiered back in April to a generally positive critical reception and appeared to find a sizeable audience. According to the streaming service, the show was its most-watched series in the UK during the month of its release.
Set in the Z Nation universe, the series follows Rose, a mother who is ripped from her daughter during the onset of a zombie apocalypse. As she embarks on a harrowing quest to find her, Rose joins up with a group of American refugees who are also fighting to reunite with their loved ones.
Netflix has ordered another eight episodes for Season 2 of Black Summer, matching the length of Season 1. Production will begin next year, though a time frame for a return is not yet known.
