The new comedy will return for Season 2.
February 13, 2020
HBO announced today that Avenue 5 has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes less than a month after the space comedy debuted its freshman run, which has so far been garnering a generally positive critical reception.
Set 40 years in the future, the series follows a luxury space cruise ship during a time when space tourism is all the rage. Captain Ryan Clark, played by Hugh Laurie, and his crew must work to deal with disgruntled passengers, unexpected events, and each other, after experiencing technical difficulties onboard.
Look for Season 2 of Avenue 5 in 2021.

Apparently when a show gets renewed the bad comments go away. I was the first to post and my comment has disappeared. I stated up front I think that this show is terrible, and I still believe that. It now has an approval rating of 2.6 on your site, yet it is still being touted as a great show. Don't understand, but apparently people who rate a show low still think it is good. go figure. Now can't trust this site for honest feedback either.

There are comedies for people with a low IQ, and then there are comedies like Avenue 5 and The Office for people with a higher evolved brain. This show is fantastic. Well written and even better performed.

I think it's pretty funny so far but I think they could do better. It being on HBO should help it open up a bit. Glad it got renewed overall.

I absolutely LOVE Hugh Laurie and I do enjoy Josh Gad....but this show is terrible. I really, really wanted to like it but after struggling through 4 episodes, I'm done. It's officially off my DVR list
