The sci-fi reboot will conclude its story in 2021.
March 9, 2020
Netflix announced today that Lost in Space has been renewed for a third and final season. The news, which arrives less than three months after the sci-fi drama's sophomore run, was accompanied by a message to fans from showrunner Zack Estrin. In the statement, Estrin confirmed that the series had been envisioned as a trilogy from the beginning.
A re-imagining of the 1960s series of the same name, Lost in Space follows a future where Planet Earth is in crisis, and the Robinson family journeys to space with hopes of writing a new chapter in human history. But when their spacecraft crashes on a mysterious frozen planet, the family faces unknown dangers as they fight for their lives to escape.
Look for Season 3 of Lost in Space in 2021.

I actually prefer shows to have a planned ending. Go out on top before the writers resort to jumping the shark or introducing Bat Mite.

I love it when shows can get a proper ending. Especially when this is how they planned it, so the story should end well.
I like the show, and would have watched more seasons, but It is good to go out on their own schedule with their own story! I wish more networks did that.

A great show! I surely didn't expect a reboot of that 1960's low budget silliness to be such fine science fiction. I've seen several mentions here and there that Netflix has a policy of three seasons maximum. I don't know what focus groups or charts or demographics lead them to this idea, but it makes me sad.

I don't believe anyone envisions a show to last only three seasons.
Sad news. I think it could have continued for many years.

I was hoping for more. But it is a very expensive show to make. Glad we got at least 3 seasons of this great show.
