No Season 2 for the drama reboot.
April 17, 2020
It is being reported that Freeform has cancelled Party of Five after just one season. The sad news comes less than two months after the family drama finished its 10-episode freshman outing.
The show was a reboot of the acclaimed 1990s Fox series of the same name that ran for six seasons. Structured in a similar manner with a modern-day take on its family situation, the new Party of Five received generally-positive reviews, but like the original, suffered from lacklustre ratings.
The series follows a family of five children as they deal with life's daily struggles after their parents are unexpectedly deported to Mexico. Left to fend for themselves the moment they said goodbye to their mother and father at an immigration detention center, the kids must fight through adversity and find a way to function as a family unit.

Why couldn't it just be a mexican family where parents died? Why do they have to be deported? I'm sorry that there are people suffering in mexico but the US has made it our problem for decades. Illegal is illegal. Since covid19 arose I now have a great appreciation for our border protection and support the wall being built. It needed to be done. I'm not heartless though, my heart goes out to the families suffering in mexico that can't get help from their own president. I hope these drug cartels are deeply hurt by the lockdown!!

Omg! Why would you cancel a good show with a great storyline?! It hit today's headlines right on the head! Bring it back somewhere please!

To the at symbol: I would think women and people of color DO hate division and online arguments just like evryone else, and over a television show ? I'm sorry if people are behaving like that. If you enjoy Deputy, then I say go for it. I don't watch much on Fox; if you don't like Party of Five then that is your right to say so.If it comes back in 2022 like One Day At A Time's reboot did, then I hope you are one of the first to speak our against it if that is what you truly feel.

I had really gotten into Deputy, but Fox pulled the plug on it so quickly. It's the most kind of sad when your show goes, but I felt the same way about Party of Five too. Their camp is saying 2022 is in the works so I am remaining optimistic.

To Skeeter: There was nothing wrong with the show reflecting social commentary. It just made YOU uncomfortable because you don't do well with social issues. The US has more COVID cases and deaths than anywhere else in the world. Mexico is a valued trading partner and has been for decades.Mexico's unemployment rate is under 4%, and the US has 26M unemployed. There is no wall being built;you're sadly misinformed. If legality matters to you then read up on US law and why your president recommends Lysol and hydroxychloroquine.

Shows get produced all the time, shows get remade, rebooted, retooled, redistributed, whatever, but to the "at" sign dude, you're way out of control. You don't need not yell, you need not use a bunch of sock puppets. Just take a deep breath, and consider yourself vindicated if a show you don't like doesn't ever come back.

Unfortunately the description of the show is going to cause a lot of people not to even view it. This is a hollywood social agenda and people are sick of it. Re : @ sign : You sound like you need vindication because you sound upset about Party of Five being picked up for 2022 as a winter replacement. If you don't like the show that's okay; there's room for everyone's opinion, but the politics of being a Social Justice Warrior work both ways. Just because you disagree with something you see on television doesn't make people who agree Social Justice Warriors. The issue will just come up again.
