The Edie Falco cop drama will not return for Season 2.

Some sad news is out for Tommy this morning. CBS announced their schedule for the 2020-2021 season and the freshman drama was absent from the lineup. The cancellation comes the day before the show's now-series finale. The move is not a complete surprise, though, as it was plagued by low ratings for the entirety of its time on the air.
Tommy stars Edie Falco as Abigail "Tommy" Thomas, a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for the city of Los Angeles. A New Yorker through and through, Tommy uses her brutal honesty and hardball methods to keep social, political, and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland.

I think it was “too woke” for it’s own sake. She wasn’t only the first female police chief, which maybe would have been compelling enough, but they added another layer and she was gay, and if that wasn't compelling enough they added another layer with a biracial marriage and daughter. And just for insurance, lets not give her her own home. Im sorry for Eddie Falco, she deserves better.

Love Edie Falco but unfortunately I have to agree with cancellation but sorry everyone that enjoyed the show. I personally did not find it very well written. Edie was awesome though!

This is unfortunate. I am partial to Edie Falco, but I thought this would be a great show, but I think it was up against a lot of competition and I feel that a lot people was not down with a female commissioner. That’s my opinion. Looking forward to your next project Edie.

I've taken to recording shows and not watching any first year dramas until I know that they will be back for a second season. I therefore didn't waste time on Tommy, Deputy, and some other promising shows.
