No Season 2 for the comic-based space opera.
June 26, 2020
Word is out that Syfy has cancelled Vagrant Queen after just one season. The sad news comes three weeks after the space opera wrapped its freshman run, with its June 4 episode now acting as its series ender.
Show creator Jem Garrard took to Twitter to inform fans of the cancellation. In her message, she expresses heartfelt thanks to the cast, crew, fans, and the creators of the comic from which the series is adapted.
Vagrant Queen follows Elida, a skilled fighter and former child queen who has been on the run since her mother was shot and killed by Commander Lazaro, the man responsible for bringing down their empire. When Elida receives word that her mother is still alive, she begins a rescue mission across a dangerous galaxy knowing that they don't have long before Lazaro catches up to them.

I saw just one episode of this show. I didn't know about it, SyFy could have done a better job with promotion. Looking back, and looking at other comments, I'm a Amen on a finale season on Dark Matter instead. While, I'm at it- poor choice for The Expanse too!

You got to give a least one shoutout to the makeup and costume staff. They made the most out of body paint, bubble wrap, cardboard boxes, etc in making aliens look like a part of Mr. Potato Head's family tree.

It deserved to be cancelled. Dark Matter was infinitely better and it was cancelled.

Syfy cancels a lot of shows that have a lot of potential. They're interesting shows with interesting concepts, but Syfy always cancels them. Perhaps they should only do 13, hour long episodes for every series and tell the writers to go in knowing 13 episodes is all they're going to get. Might as well just be a mini-series only channel if they're going to resist giving shows a chance to catch their footing with a second season.

well it was a fun show. With lots of comedy. I liked it but it never had a chance on sy fy. Like one person said , they could have kept dark matter around and skipped all the one run series. And I liked them all too. Especially superstitious. And hunters. But they just keep throwing good series down the toilet. Doesn't it cost more to develop a new series than keep one around for a second season?

Sure would have been nice to get a final season for Dark Matter instead a bunch of one and done seasons of shows since.

@Bert
I agree it was a shame. Syfy could have done so much better than this. The commercials could have just said "don't waste your time, we're going to make a lot of big questions, string you along never answering them, all while overhyping and overstylizing this,"
