The anthology series earns an early pickup.
August 7, 2020
AMC announced today that Soulmates has been given an early renewal for Season 2. The good news comes two months ahead of its scheduled October premiere.
The series will be set 15 years in the future, where science has advanced to the point that a test can unequivocally tell people who their soulmate is - and it changes the lives of everybody on the planet. The six-episode show will be an anthology, featuring six different stories with six different casts.
Season 2 of Soulmates should return sometime in 2021. But for now, catch the debut episode on Monday, October 5.

Oh, and BTW, this is from the urban Dictionary:
Genre bending: When you take a (or many) classic type(s) of (movie\novel) subject(s) and set it (them) in a totally different type of setting.

Some of the episodes were lackluster and some were powerful. The last one: "The (Power) Ballad of Caitlan Jones" was the best of the season and really had me captivated. It starred Besty Brandt who has been a favorite of mine since Breaking Bad. I'm usually kind of disappointed with anthologies but I certainly will be watching this one next year when it returns.

Wow! Unexpected humor in the comment section. Personally, I find the very word in its current usage, influencer, ridiculous. People have always cared what others think, but it is getting out of control. It is especially sad to me that some influencers are filthy rich.
As for Soulmates, this early pick-up gave it press so now I've heard of it. It must have been affective at least on me because now I'm curious to check it out WHEN IT ACTUALLY STARTS.

Wow how in the world are people missing the sarcasm in Johns post. Anyone should be able to see that he's making fun of the fact that AMC is acting like season one was a hit before it even aired.

@John did you not read what it said? It hasn't even aired 1 episode yet because it doesn't start until October! Just a guess but maybe that's why season 1 didn't have any draw! In the future please use your brain when commenting. And who cares what "social influencers" have to say? They don't influence a damn thing in my life! FML what's wrong with people nowadays!

Why would they bring back this show? Nobody I know or no social influencers are talking about it. Season one had no draw. Huh maybe they hope another season will be more popular.

I tried to write “here’s one that probably isn’t [gender-bending].” Given the above photos, I should have just said that it appears to be gender-bending. It appears that the AMC tweet accidentally wrote genre instead of gender.

For a second I thought I read “gender-bending” when it was “genre-bending.” I’ve been trained to expect gender bending but thankfully here’s that one probably isn’t. Gender-bending wouldn’t even be genre-bending and what could be genre-bending about this show is mind-bending or at least unexplained or far-fetched hype. Nevertheless, the premise could work so lets just bend ahead and renew it before it’s even aired.
