No Season 4 for the fantasy drama.
March 29, 2021
Word is out this evening that American Gods has been cancelled by Starz after three seasons. The sad news comes a week after the fantasy drama aired its third-season finale.
Adapted from the 2001 Neil Gaiman novel, the series follows ex-con and widower Shadow Moon, who has his life turned upside down not long after being released from prison. He meets a charismatic con man named Mr. Wednesday, who is actually an incarnation of the God Odin and looking to confront the new Gods, who have been growing stronger. Together, Mr. Wednesday and Shadow Moon begin a journey across America in an attempt to build an army of Old Gods that will battle for power against the New Gods.
While today's cancellation cuts the ongoing story short, there is talk that a TV movie or event series could be a possibility down the road to give American Gods a proper ending. Star Ricky Whittle took to Twitter shortly after the news broke to thank his fellow cast members, the crew, and the fans. He also noted that he, Gaiman, and Fremantle are committed to completing the story.

They cancelled it. Man that sucks. Add it to the long list of great shows that died before their time.

Impossible how many commenters say "I didn't watch season 3" - I would say: then don't comment, this is not interesting for the rest of us.
Season 3 was better than 2 and the cliffhanger is too bad but I trust it will be picked up. Gaiman is one of the "real" writers and he is invested in it.

Really loved this show. Hope someone picks it up and finishes it. If Lucifer can get picked up, this sure can!

Thank the gods ( old and new ) that I watched season 3. It was great up until the cliffhanger. Some other outlet ( Amazon ) should pick this up with a 4th and final season. Finish the f***ing story !!!

I saw like 2 min of season one and then I gave up. It was still on my to watch list, but I just never got inspired to start up again. I'm not going to miss it - and will properly read the book instead, if I want to know the story.

I’m gonna miss this show. Super imaginative and what’s not to like about Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle? So sad that audiences now need to be spoonfed entertainment, I personally appreciated the opportunity to watch this show and let my imagination fill in blanks or speculate about varying situations.

Season 1 was really good. Season 2 seemed like homework. Season 3 sits on my dvr. Maybe i will read Den Of Geeks review and delete.

Good. This show was amazing the first season, but the second season was so messed up that I gave up.

This show was the only reason to keep Starz. I guess my cable bill is going down another $11.

That’s a shame. This is the only show worth watching on Amazon. Great story, brilliant acting and stunning visuals. Will he missed.
